I like CLK430_ew's CL Hood/Grill better... although its almost 10 times as expensive, it looks just about 10 times better. Looks practically factory! Beautiful...

Damn that's nice!
You would think there would be a way to get that grill without buying a new hood.
Somebody could sell a ton of those grills......

The hood and grill combo is about $1900 plus paint and installation.

Mine! The trick to make it look better is to paint the upper and lower chrome pins in black. That way the star does not look connected and stands up better. For 8 times less money, it's good enough for me.

Hmm.. I'm a little confused.

I note that the first picture has both the big star grill AND the low profile emblem on the hood, which means it's the original hood, and not the replacement.

How was this done?

Still confused.

The low profile Emblem is designed to replace the original hood orniment. It covers what is essentially a hole in the hood. The 1900 dollar hood doesn't have (from any of the pictures I've seen) that hole. It is a singular piece.

Thus my confusion. Why would you drill the necessary hole in the hood and thus ruin it. You've already got the big star emblem in the grill.

-Bouncer-

No longer car shopping...
Original hood?

Bouncer - That hood is the replacement made out of fiberglass. The flat emblem is part of that package. The original 208 has the stand up star (i.e. crosshairs) like all pre-2003 CLK's.

The flathood emblem was added seperately to the black CLK pictured above. It does not come with the new hood, and is not needed, but if you like it, why not use it? The emblem comes with a mounting kit for cars with holes already in the hood. There are always otherways to install it in the new hood without drilling.

Thanks,
Ben

You don't need to drill a hole on the fiberglass hood to attach the emblem, you can use silicone or glue.
