help me find bulbs

2000 CLK320

All my lights are stock

main: Xenon
Middle city light: stock bulb
Lower fog light: stock bulb

I am trying to look for a nice clean blue/white blub that match my xenons...Anyone know what I shoud get...

What bulb will give me that effect and also not disturb the Watt/current specs of the car...

thanks

I just received my Phillips Blue Vision bulbs from www.powerbulbs.com. I ordered on the 12th of May and got them today (21st of May). Apparently the Phillips Blue vision are not DOT approved so you have to order them from Europe. I have the same set-up but my car is a 1999 CLK320. I think that your lights will be the same as mine. The 'city light' is a H7 bulb and the fogs are H1. The site should show you what kind of bulbs you need. I have been told that these bulbs look very white and not blue. People have said that they should match the Xenon very well. I hope to at least get the 'city lights' installed tonight and I will post how they look tomorrow. Most people will recommend the PIAA or CATZ lights but I think they have 430’s and 55’s because the 430 and 55 use a H3 fog. I don’t think that PIAA makes a H1 bulb (needed for the 320), I could be wrong. I looked in my owner’s manual to find out which bulbs I needed. If I can borrow my friends digital camera I will try and post pics if they are good enough. Try searching for aftermarket fogs. Or just fogs and you should find other good info as well.

just to clarify for others who want to know...

H7 = Low Beam & High Beam
H1 = CLK320 Fog Light
H3 = CLK430/55 Fog Light

I think most people refer 'city lights' as daytime running lights, which are the miniature bulbs inside the same housing as the High Beam. Those are just regular 'driving lights', and I don't think there is a specific reference in terms of size, although a lot of people commonly associate it with M17 as that is the most commonly available bulb to fit that socket from Polarg.

I was wondering what the mini bulb was. I guess I would have seen it this evening when I install the low beams. I have never changed out lights before so please excuse me if I have confused things with the wrong terminology. Mmgrad is there anything I need to know about changing low beam (center two smaller lights) and the fogs. I have read about unscrewing a few screws under the fog light area to gain access to the fogs and figured I could figure it out from there but I have not seen anything about the low beam. Thanks! On the Phillips Blue Vision box it refers to the little lights as W5W they are 12V 5watts.

any bulb you change in the main headlight assemblies are very simple. twist off the plastic cover, twist or unlock the bulb and change the bulb. it'll take you like 1 min... just make sure you don't touch the bulbs during installation, any oils or dirt can cause the bulb to fracture when it is heated (it creates a mess when it POPS, i know from experience)

As for the fog lights, i've never changed mine out before. But i hear it is a very tight spot, and may require a screwdriver.

just noticed that we got new 'smilies' on our board... :zoom :beat :crazy :devil :evil

Well, I orignally bought all of these lights because I had a fog out and whenever I turned on the lights I got a lamp defective malfunction. I just got home and was looking at the lights. Other than the fog the only light that I have out is one of those little lights. The mini bulbs I was referring to came with the H1 fogs not the H7 high beams. I did not realize the the H7 bulb in the small housing was the high beam, I thought it was the low beam. So I guess the H7 low beam is for people without Xenon's. I should have done my home work. It looks like all I needed was the H1 fogs and the mini bulb(h6w). I am going to look into the polarg M17. I guess I will swap out the high beam but there really is not much of a point. Does anyone know why the H1 fogs came with 2 w5w mini bulbs? Maybe for a BMW?

edit: Does anyone know why the H1 fogs came with 2 w5w mini bulbs? Maybe for a BMW? They were just free with every order, not that they are for my car. I figured out that I only needed the H6W bulbs.

Thanks for everyones help. Whenever I get the fogs installed and the city/mini H6W bulbs installed I will try to post a picture.

So let me get this straight

city light: H6w
Bottem fog lights : H1

???

Do they have ones that are slightly blueish for H6w???
Now that I think about it, it will look cooler if the headlights and the fog lights match (white) with city light being slightly blue.

I like those phillips whites or blues for the H1 and Wh6.

I heard that those blue paints comes off and makes the color look green/yellow, is that true??? How long does those bulbs and color last?? If I have to end up buying new bulbs every year then I rather leave that yellow ugly but long lasting bulb.

I rather go with $$ effective.

I am sorry i have read over this thread and still Confused

Hi I have a 1998 CLK320 I bought new MB Xeons to put in this baby that fit years 1998-2002 ( i think). What I was wondering first off is how to change my city/driving lights to make them much more blue color. (closer to my headlights) The "city/driving" lights are the ones in the small inner bubble on this assembly correct. I looked and there are 2 bulbs in this 1 bubble. Which am i going to change? I think the bulb that I am looking for is the H6W, but what I need imput on is the best blue bulbs, I could care less about how long the last, cost or brightness, i just want blue. Please give some suggestions where I could buy such bulbs to make my driving lights blue, thank you so much for your time it would be a huge favor of a fellow mb enthusiast. thanks again.

Chris Baum (18 year old mb rokie, sorry)

the city light is the small bulb on the bottom of the inner cluster.... as to which is the better blue bulb? there is none... none of the aftermarket stuff are good...

whether it be blue painted bulbs, blue tinted glass bulbs, or white LED bulbs that shine blue... neither of them are really good, and neither really match the xenons of the headlights

STFF and you'll find some pics... I posted a thread a short while back showing different driving/city light options...
