Need some help getting my A/C working

Hey, I just became the proud owner of a 2000 CLK 430....but I need some help from the experts. I've been following along but cannot find a thread dealing with my problem so sorry if this has already been talked about.

I bought the car with a bad climate control head. Most of the buttons did not work including the a/c. All that worked was the defrost. I purchased a used heat unit off a 2000 CLK 430 that was wrecked. I recorded the P1 and P2 codes from my original head and put them in the new head. Now everything works on the head unit but the a/c only blows hot air. Checked my codes and it is throwing a b1419 code which tells me there is a problem with the clutch on the a/c compressor. Today I had the freon pressure checked and we found that the pressure was within specs but there is no power getting to the a/c compressor. We hooked power to the compressor and it works. We were able to get the clutch to engage. So, I guess I have no power to the a/c compressor.

My questions is: Is there any other programming I need to do on the head unit to get it to communicate with the compressor? The fuses all check out. Does anyone have any ideas?? I am supposed to drive the car to Vegas this weekend and I really don't want to do it without a/c!!

Can someone help a newbie here???

Thanks in advance!!

CLK A/C Compressor works with direct power

Shawn,
I have been reading MB Forum discussions for many months and decided to join today. This forum has helped me on several occassions.
Have been working on same issue with A/C you described. Traced compressor wire (Blue/Teal) to control head unit on dash. Hooked power at head unit wire and compressor works fine. Would assume head unit switch is not working but it may something else.
Sure hoping someone will get back and give us some help on our problem.
Please let me know if you have solved your issue and I'll do the same for you.
Thanks!!!

When you dump the AC diagnostic codes, what do you see for #7?

Look at a wiring diagram and see what wires on the panel have power and no power when ac button is on and off if you have power up there just tap them and run a wire all the way from there back to the a/c compressor it may take a minute to do but...I hve had to do this many of ties at work on range rovers height sensors lol

Marcus, I'm out of town at moment and can't remember #7 readout. I'll get it posted as soon as I get back home.
Thanks for replying!

Thumbs up

Red,
Your direction is very helpful. I will put my meter to work and locate correct wire. It is an excellent way to keep from buying another control unit. Thanks for help!

Thats the barometric pressure of the Freon. The highest I have ever seen #7 in my car is 15.

Marcus,
The 38 reading for #7 is withot compressor running. I'll hot wire the compressor and get reading while it's working and see what reading will be. Thanks for getting back to me.
