Performance brakes....worth it?

For those of you that have brembo's or other high performance brakes....

Are these things worth it? They look incredible, but is the new stopping power worth the ~$3500?

I would be very interested in a set of brembo's if someone was selling them used or if there was some kind of group buy.

AMG Calipars are Brembos, why pay 3000 bucks for max stopping power when you can pay 800 for something just as good from the same maker?

I say go with the C32 Brakes...

Don't let the mods see this post. This is a sour subject with them and you definitely won't be able to order them through Evosport.

On another note, is there any braking gains in just changing to Brembo rotors? I am thinking of doing that just for the cosmetics of it all. Plus it's so cheap to do, like under $500 installed!

Changing the rotors will look good and give you some benefit, but it will be marginal. Changing to Brembos will give you a dramatic upgrade. Keep in mind that even if Brembo makes the calipers on the C32, there are different levels/sizes of Brembo s available. Personally, I'd say it's worth the $3000.

There is a big difference between AMG brake kits and Brembo GT kits. Don't let the price fool you. The C32 brakes are priced quite nicely (when you put them on the correct car), however they do not compare to a 2-piece Brembo kit. A Brembo kit produces more brake torque, is lighter, and is more heat resistant than the C32 brakes.

Another Brembo made kit, their race kits are much better than street kits. Both are made by Brembo, but offer different stages of performance.

Just think about it, there must be a reason why Brembos are so much more expensive than the AMG kit, and yet people still buy Brembos over any other brands.

I just got a used 2002 430 that is practically new, so I won't be doing much to the engine for a while. I am looking to do a little exhaust work, intake, and maybe pulleys. With only about 300hp in my CLK, will I still be very impressed with these expensive brembos, or do you really need to have a high output car to benefit from the bigger, better brakes?

My girlfriend has a 180hp GTI and I'm putting Brembo's on her car. It's something I promised myself that I would put on any car I have in the future. I guarantee you, after having a set, you will never want anything else.

Is the price just for the front pair?

Thanks

Brembo street or track kits are much better and bigger than the AMG parts, even though they are made by Brembo. Don't forget to upgrade your rolling stock to 18's or better. Those big brakes probably won't clear 17" wheels. Besides the stopping power will overwhelm the stock tires.
