Dual exhaust

Anyone have the link or a picture of the w208 CLK with the dual exhaust with 4 tips?

I want to see how the rear bumper looks.

Thanks

Danny, he had to cut his bumper right? Did he modify the chassis of his car? Did he remove the spare tires? What exhaust is he running on thar car?

(sorry for the numerous questions)

Thanks,

Solihin

I don't recall exactly what exhaust he had at the time of the picture. Although, I do believe, at the time of the picture, what you see is not a true dual exhaust.

If I remember correctly, it is like most W208 quad exhausts where there is ONE muffler, but there is just an extra pipe running from the driver side muffler to the passenger side with 2 extra pipes... creating the illusion of having dual exhaust, quad pipe setup
something like this I believe... the one at the bottom is the Weltmeister, meant for a 320 CLK

I believe Sleestack is having a custom made exhaust from cat back... he is moving the battery to get that accomplished. Probably like the way this car (W208&203) is being done...

Wow, thanks for all the pics Danny. Pretty thorough stuff. I really like the look of the quad exhaust. Something about it's symmetry that really draws me to it. I wonder how much parts and labor is for that kind of job.

Ben, I hope you don't mind me answering this question for you.

Ben's exhaust is actually a dual exhaust system with dual tips on each side. The system was a prototype done by an exhaust specialist for Evosport. The understructure beneath the trunk on the passenger side was not modified. Without this modification, both exhaust pipes were run on one side and one pipe traversed across the back and exited on the passenger side. The Expression rear bumper has enough room allow an exit on the passenger side. The system is a great piece of work with beautiful mandrel bends.

mmgrad,
I've worked on his car on a few occasions and know his car fairly well. Sorry about the contradiction, just trying to help

you know what... you are right...
i believe Ben was the one who had a custom made exhaust. i must have been thinking of another car with that setup... thanks for the clarification...

Thanks for the pics mmgrad.

Now was there a German site with a flared out CLK with quad tips also? I'm just trying to get an idea of the look so that we can decide whether to cut holes or just shave off some of the bottom on our rear kit.

Thanks again.

Is there any disadvantage in having dual exhaust on a 430?
I really want the dual exhaust on my CLK, but I need a figure on how much money I have to spend. If we just see from the back of the car, we can't really tell if the car has the true dual exhaust or just one exhaust with two pipes, can we?

Thanks,

Solihin

you can't really tell unless you look underneath the car...

benefits of a true dual exhaust... much lest restrictive since you aren't combing 2 pipes together... but it will add a little extra weight from the extra piping & muffler/exhaust
