Many people at the Bby. dealership say that every time they send cars there it comes back damaged. There was a story about one car that came back with a huge hole in the leather of the seat made by a drill they used. The cars are sent back to the original dealers uncleaned and damaged.
The creak came back 2 weeks after I got the car back. That was about six weeks ago. I won't be sending my car back to North Van. There are rumors of a impending openning of a new shop in Richmond which I've heard the manager is good. For warranty work which must be done by a Mercedes shop I will wait until this new shop opens and go there.
I've heard from a good friend who's been everywhere including Burrard Autostrasse and No.1 Collision, the best body and paint work done in Vancouver is by Korva World Class Collison. They are on West 2nd in Vancouver.

Wouldn't you be concerned with the shop that referred you to that place to get the body work done if they say they are constantly having trouble with them? When I refer people to local shops to help install products that they order from us, I have to make sure that it is a reputable shop, otherwise it looks bad on us.

this monday i dropped my car off at a local body shop that does a lot of restoration work for american and foreign classics, they also do work for concours cars. needless to say, their work is impeccable. here is some info that i gleaned from the owner: when dealers have contracts with shops they usually take a cut of the body shops revenues from the referral. one example he gave was of Herb Chambers here in boston. Herb Chambers is pretty huge, high volume, and handles bmw, merc, honda, and maybe another brand. he said that towards the end of their relationship, herb chambers wanted 15% of the labor tab done on any referral work. this forces the shop to cut costs in some instances if they want to turn a profit on the job. thus, a lot of the time the work that comes back from one of these referral shops is less than perfect.
it happened to me once with Ross AutoBody out in PA when i was in college. i smacked the front of my white a4 while playing rally driver in the snow (idiot, i know). when i went to pick the car up the first time the bumper wasn't even close to the rest of the car. yes, i know that the flex additive can cause discoloration but this was like 2 standard deviations away. so they fix that but then a month later i notice the tip of the hood discolouring, turning a cream colour. take it to a shop my buddy uses and it turns out Ross didn't even properly finish the hood, left a lot of imperfections, etc.
i'm not saying your going to get ripped-off every time you use a dealer referral but the more you know the better.
ps
Alleyway auto body is excellent if you ever need body work done in pittsburgh area. after my first time there i used them consistently afterwards.
