Bought a blown-up CLK430 to build a race toy.
Wanted a 'race' car that looked nothing like a race car.
Didn't want a hoopty sleeper. Wanted something that disappered into the parking lot at work among Corollas, G37s, Lexus ES somethings, New Eclipse, New Maxima, etc.
After reading quite a bit, it seems nearly impossible to swap a big new badass Merc engine into a CLK. Too many computer nightmares.
Instead, I'm swapping the drivetrain.
So I bought a CLK with a blown engine for $900.

picked it up and diagnosed the cause of the dead engine with the help from a furry friend.

im not suposed to see that:

start of disassembly:

everything from the bay is up for grabs.
i have no idea what's what so fill me in on what to keep.
removed the accessories today.

cracked the power steering reservoir off.
cut up the harness and lines for ps/ac/cooling.
currently have air pump (black plastic thing top center of engine), coils, alternator, a/c compressor, p/s minus res., ecus, random sensors.
Once you have that, its a matter of making it move.
I'm still wondering what lights and other power parts (seats, windows, wipers, heater) will work without the engine and engine ecu.
I assume none, wich is the worst case scenario. I can make anything work, just a bit worried about the heater core operation.

The seats are probably gonna be sold whole. Not terrible condition, the passenger is almost perfect actually. PM me an offer on the airbox if you want it.
