Hi Forum,
Short question: If I buy a Mercedes from a private party still under factory warranty (the car, not the private party, he,he) and the factory warranty ends in next 2000miles) is there a way to get the extended Starmark warranty.

if you are buying from a private party, then NO.

Starmark warranty is actually for certified used cars...

There is an extended mercedes benz premium limited warranty... unfortunately, this program is ONLY available to the original owner during the first 12 months of ownership.... after your 1st year anniversary expires, you lose the option to purchase this extended warranty.

There have been discussions of a Daimler-Benz warranty available for purchase as long as the original warranty hasn't expired. It is also available to anyone, not just the original purchaser of the vehicle. Unfortunately, not many people know about this warranty program, including the Benz dealers around So Cal....

hmm... maybe you didn't search hard enough....
this is an excerpt from a post i made a while back about the warranty:

I inquired about the Daimler warranty... and here are the noteworthy facts:

- The longer you wait to buy it, the more it cost (based on the age & mileage of ur car)
- You can pick how many miles you can extend your warranty
- You are allowed to buy ONE extension on top of your extended warranty (good deal)
- It covers audio & other electronics (So this should cover your stereo, COMAND, etc.... which is something the MB Premium Ext warranty doesn't cover)

Everything else is pretty much the same. You can take the car to be serviced at any MB dealer... just like the Premium ext warranty

she is the person i got the information from... she is also the person i bought the MB premium ext warranty from... she can help you save bunch of $$$$
