how much oil??

how much oil??
how much oil is supposed to be put into the 320? the computer says there's too much oil. i check the dipstick and it appears to be above max. it was kinda hard to check, though - the oil doesnt show up very well on the indicator but about 1cm above the MAX mark was wet.
the mechanic put in 7 quarts (one box of castrol+ one more bottle) but in the back of the book it says 8.5 quarts??

Did they use a topsider or drain it from the bottom? I read here that if you drain it from the bottom, some oil will still remain at the bottom with most of the dirt and impurities.

doesn't the oil filter also have oil?
maybe the mechanic didn't drain the oil pan completely....
did he remove the oil from up-top with a suction device or did he drain it from the bottom...
people say that its better to extract from the top because the drain plug at the bottom doesn't release all the oil...
