Need WIS or instructions to remove exterior A Pillar Cover
Have to repair some light surface rust between the A pillar cover and the front 1/4 seam. Remember reading when I had access to the WIS a few years ago that there is a screw behind the rubber gasket by the window but there is a procedure to remove it once the screw is out. I don't want to go in blind and start breaking things - so if anyone has access to the WIS and can look this one up I'd appreciate it. Again its the A pillar metal cover along the windscreen for a CLK430 (2000). Thanks.
Your question is different, I'm looking for the OUTSIDE metal A pillar cover - not the fabric covers on the inside. They are pretty easy - start with the B pillar - you have to remove the seatbelt bolt. Get a good set of plastic prybars from Harbor Freight and gradually pry off the covers - you will more than likely have to purchase some more plastic clips because they do break when being pulled. Over time heat etc. causes them to get brittle. Dealer will know which ones. Cost about 6 per clip unfortunately. Had to remove the inside trim when I had to pull the rear passenger side panel to have a dent pulled/tapped. Was a major PITA but helped with the dentless removal because they got to the dent from the back

I can't follow this diagram. Is it depicting, peel the trim panel away from the windshield side of the panel, and then 'push' down (toward the base of the panel).
If I remember correctly its move the cover first downward, then at the bottom move left as in the diagram then outward. Think the pins on the pillar cover are like lL shaped hooks. Its been a long time since I did it. Please let me know if that works. Again when the retaining screw is removed slide downward and it should release the panel then lift it out.
