Question Xenon headlight question

Has anyone used these lights to replace xenon headlights in a W208?

I prefer this style, without the extra facets on the lower portion. The CCFL Halo rings are what you want, they are brighter. I was also able to adapt them to accommodate the stock HID system.

I mounted the HID ballasts on the bottom of the headlight housings with some small screws, and just had to cut a litttle slot in the back cover to allow the fat power wire to the bulb. There is also some custom splicing of the small bulbs and halo power into your marker lights to make everything light up properly.

What did you have to do to make them work? The ad says they are incompatible with xenon.

I edited above.

Just put the Xenon bulbs into the housing, and mount the ballast box to the bottom of the headlight. It will work with a little effort.

So the bulb is a direct fit?

This looks like a cheap replacement, but I'm still a bit leery.

Yes, it will fit. I think there are some adapter rings you can buy, but I didn't use them. There is a metal wire type clamp that holds the base of the bulb in place.

Did the turn signal and high beam bulbs need to be spliced, or did they plug in to the existing harness? Did you just splice the halo's?

These look to be the same, but in black. My car is triple black so I am considering these, from the same seller:

Any good results using HID bulbs with halogen projectors?

There is no issue with using HID bulbs in a halogen projector housing so long as you limit the bulbs to 35W instead of 55W. The higher wattage generates more heat and can potentially cause problems with melting plastic, blistering chrome in the housing or softening the glue seal on the lenses.

35w bulbs also have longer lifespan compared to 55w.
