2001 CLK 430
Question Had anyone installed a Upsolute chip before?

I am a new member to the club. Had anyone installed an Upsolute chip on the CLK before? What's the power gain? I had a 2001 CLK 430 and planed to install the Upsolute chip next week.

Is $500 a good deal? I heard some body said they can get it for $320?

Thanks!

yo MBCLK !

An upsolute chip ECU will give you around 20 hp gain on your V8.
"YOU WILL FEEL IT" according to their technician.

So it will give you beter torque and therefore better acceleration. Just make sure you tell them exactly which fuel youare using before they upgrade your ECU!

The Chip...

I'll probably be doing the same chip very soon as well.

However....I have been in contact with one of their represenatives...he is saying that it will give a 30 hp gain.

For the same money...obviously...30 is better than 20!

I'll send him an email and confirm the info.

These are the stats that Upsolute list for the CLK430

Car type Mercedes CLK 430

Stock Modified
Engine size 4266 4266
Compression 10.0:1 10.0:1
Power (hp) 279 hp 300 hp
Power (kW) 205 kw 220 kw
Torque 295 ft/lb (400 Nm) 313 ft/lb (425 Nm)
Max Speed 56 mph ( 250 kmh) 163 mph ( 261 kmh)
Fuel consum. 56 mph (90kmh) 25,6 mpg ( 9,2 l) 26,4 mpg ( 8,9 l)
Fuel consum. 75mph (120kmh) 19,1 mpg ( 12,3 l) 19,9 mpg ( 11,8 l)

According to them more horsepower and better gas mileage, go figure?

This must be the same company that makes the Tornado fuel saver.

I you optimize fuel to air at spark you can get more HP from the same amount of fuel: If your mixture is running rich, you will expel unburnt fuel. Now, give yourself more air with the same fuel, and you get a bigger "bang" with less wasted fuel. Voila, more HP, and better gas mileage.

They can do this by changing timing with the dual spark plug system that is in that engine,

At least I think thats how they do it, the results are the same.

Is the Upsolute "chip" a hardware replacement or a reprogramming of the existing EPROM?

They have to remove the chip completely and flash it with the new data, but you can have the installer just flash a new chip for you and keep your old one. That's what I did.

I guess this chip voids the factory warranty right?

Did someone post they replaced a chip in there 2001 CLK 430 and the gears started missing?

$500 for 30HP sound like a deal.

Void warranty and shifting gear/Trans problem --- Priceless...

Just keeping real....solute

Technically, yes, as with all others, but I don't know for sure. And the MB tech would be hard pressed to find out you even had the chip.

The UPsolute does nothing to the shifting in my car, so I would bet it wouldn't cause any problems

John.

p.s. If you are a benzsport.com member you'll get the chip for less.

Thanks for the information
But how does the UPsolute chip compare to the RennTech Chip?

Honestly, I wouldn't know, but UPsolute is into chip tuning only, as RennTech is not a chip tuner. The RennTech has been reported to be good, but I think they have very similar programming. So $ for $ I think UPsolute is the better deal. RennTech is way overpriced for everything they offer.

I didn't install the Upsolute chp. The person from LA Upsolute chip told me they will call me when they have the chip ready. It's been a month and I still hadn't hear from them. I will keep it updated.

I chipped with Upsolute

Garret Franklin from upsolute the midwest rep chipped my car. He's actaully a friend of mine so he chipped it for free. I was the first CLK430 they chipped in the midwest. I have a 1999 and it runs like a beauty. I definetely recommend it!!! I also installed K&N air filters and the car flies!
