Time for new breaks

I got a call from MB dealer this morning.
Yes, my car is in the shop again, more vibrations
Anyway, they told be that my front breaks are below minimum and they want $270 to change them. I told them that I will do it myself, since I want to go with Brembo drilled rotors.
The car only has 16K miles. Isn't it early?
My Acura TL has 60K on original breaks.

What is your opinion on Brembo rotors?
What is the best combination of rotors/pads?
Maybe I just need to go with stock once?
Any other options?

Please give me your opinions.

Thanks

Well, I guess they are hungry for my money.
I will wait, but I still would like to find out alternatives to stock rotors/pads.

Same thread, another question.

So if I go with Brembo rotors and semimetallic pads, will they live longer then sotck once? What is average lifespan of those, constidering normal driving habbits.

clkal hooked me up with the new brake setup. Thanks al! Johnny is a hard working guy.

I got my cab done last night by him and had my steering dampener replaced at the same time. All I have to say is that the new brake setup feels great. The semi-metalic pad and crossed drill rotor should last just as long or longer than the oem setup.

MB is bananas when it comes to what they want to fix your car. I feel your pain BlackCLK2001. My car is in the shop more than I drive it as well. Here is the list:

Front end vibration
Fog lights out
Engine tapping (Supposedly a carbon release valve - all the time)
Engine shuts off at idle (Only does it three times before starting back up and staying on)
Door misailigned (For no reason, they had that one for a month)
Drivers side window warped (explain that to me, must have gotten to hot)
Memory seats broke, moved seats all the way forward(had to have it towed)
Squeaks (constantly)
Rear sunshade broke (Supposedly my fault)
Sunroof (won't close all the way)
Brakes (I drive the car "too harsh" - I personally like that one)
Exhaust backlash (Related to the carbn build up, which apparently is normal)

Anyway, back to the breaks, MB wants 1200 for rotors and pads, which the pads they just replaced 4k miles ago. Can anyone hook me up with a contact to save some money with this cash trap? Thanks!

That is a definite. Problem is what to go to. E55 was sounding nice, but not that confident in MB. Porsche was sounding nice, but need something a little bigger. BMW killed the new M5 so you tell me, what else is there..

In regards to a good sedan you are correct, unless you go with MB there are not too many more choices except if you want to go the Bently, Rolls or Maybach route $$$ but there is always the Porsche Cayenne, you will have the fastest suv in your neighborhood!!

Cayenne - Fastest maybe, as well as the ugliest, and not the fastest for long with the new X5 4.8.. Uh oh...

BMW destroyed the look of the new M5, and the 5 for that matter. You can't take a platform like the 7 and squish it into a smaller body. It just isn't appealing to me.

RS6 - ehhh.. Doesn't do it for me. Drove one of the first here in NJ, and blah... I mean yeah wow for speed and performance, but ehhh.. when it comes to appeal.

Caddy... U R kidding right.... American manufacturers can't make cars. Haven't we learned that lesson with MBUSA...

And JLucas
Why dont you sell the car or trade it in for something else...?? You will save more money in the long run...
Cause my 02' CLK 430 loaded, isn't worth the star it carries on the hood. I took it to MB, and to get out of it was nearly 20k. To sell it I would have to throw in over 10k. Not a very viable solution if you ask me. Believe me I tried. And yes it was purchased brandy new with all the bells and whistles, at the end of 02'

I fear you may have bought one of the dreaded "lemon" vehicles, on a more positive note your car is still under warranty and you can have everything repaired to the state that it should have been when you purchased it. I know that time and inconvenience is a factor but what can you do.

Good luck!

e-mail me and i have can hook you up with crossdrilled rotors/semi metallic brakes which will last you up to 2 years w/o having to change the pads. PLUS you'll get better performance.

My alternative to OEM brakes:

Cross drilled rotors by Zimmermann (Inexpensive and good quality cast rotors) and pads by Porterfield.

I think I paid around $200 for frnt and rear cross drilled rotors. No problems to date with them. Only thing you need to do is have them cad plated or powdercoated so the non braking surfaces don't show rust.

hey idiot. This thread has nothing to do with you. If you can't help out a fellow member, you shouldn't be posting stuff. Every thread I start, or reply to, you have to come in and say insulting stuff to me, so NOW, i'm gonna stoop down to your level. Hopefully you will be able to comprehend what I'm going to say . Judging by your 4th grade grammar, people can already see you are pretty much a dolt. So here goes...... you posted that "any kind of hooker are not allowed without being sponsor blah blah blah." If that is the case, you'd better tell your mom to stop posting her services in the classifieds.

Now that I have said what I said....let the fun begin..........

as i suspected, you didn't understand one sentence I wrote in my previous post, clowning your mom. Oh well..... too bad.

Anyways, I asked the person who needed help w/ the cross drilled rotors to e-mail me , and I recommended him a place in the UNITED STATES , so he doesn't have to worry about warranty issues. Several members on the W208 board have already gotten them from my source and have been extremely happy with the results.

an idiot with 20grand car want to insult my mom ? haha gimme a break. dude, u can talk like a big bulldog but man...your car is cheaper than my maids honda accord. Is your small tiny friend name Dicky?

Hey moron, do u know brembos self drilled is made in Asia ? People there bought em bacause they r cheaper than OEM and cost $30 per pair with additonal $2 for cross drilled look.

The only rotors drilled by brembo factory are sold thru authorized dealer such as EVOSPORT. They r made with heighest quality and special drilling pattern for each car.

If U still insist that the rotor u were recommended r authentic.. PROOF it by taking your rotor pics. we know which one is fake or real. If u think home made drilled rotor is safe, just use your own and dont recommend it to other member. When it came to brakes, people will prefer safety rather than cheap made in taiwan brakes.

ben....u really want this idiot bringing your company's name into his incomprehensible comments? He has already done enough damage to EUROREV's reputation, and has definitely costed them potential customers with his "i'm rich because of my parent's. I'm better than you are because my mommy and daddy have money attitude."

the funny thing is , brybenz, that you claim to have so much money, yet you can't invest a measley $15 or $20 to learn proper grammar. LOL. get a life you loser.

I work at real estate business and a full time CSE student.
Dont change the topic, lots of people still waiting for your confirmation if your BREMBOS is fake or real.
