Actually he doesn't have a 55 he had a 430 that was transformed into MKB/Kleemann. As far as sales, installation, service and dealer it was Evosport. www.evosport.com. If you're interested give Ben a call and he can help you out with this supercharger.

I had a 430 that had MKB parts (installed by Oberklasse) and a Kleemann SC (installed by Evosport). It was pushing out around 490 hp and 460 lb/ft torque. My car has been (and will be) in the shop for a few months.... I think I'll have a nice surprise for all of you W208 fans.

Should try racing the SL55 when you see one... that will be close as the SL55 may have 493 hp, but it has a weight/hp ratio of 8.93 (4400lbs/493hp), whereas your is about 8.43 (3,365 lbs/400hp)..

My hp was 490, not 400, and my torque was 460 lb/ft... but that was old news.... have fun with that SL55, it sure is a looker.

ooh... well then the race with the SL55 will won by you... not by miles, but will probably come down to driving technique!

Why did you take the weight:power ratio instead of power:weight ratio? Although they're just the inverse, if you think that a higher weight:power ratio is better, then it should be the opposite; a lower weight:power ratio is better and inversely, a higher power:weight ratio is better.

My technique needs much improvement so I'll pass on the racing... anyway, I'm stuck driving an E320 for the next couple of months... it sucks (no offense to anyone).

Technique takes time!! Mine needs work as well..

E320 for a couple of months? Better than a pinto!! But nevertheless, it is quite a power drop than what you are used to. You'll slam the gas on the E320 and be like "Why am I not going anywhere" LOL

Sleestack, I can only imagine what you're doing to your CLK430 to cause it to be in the shop for a few months.

The max number Mach got on his dyno was was 355 hp at the rear wheel. The max number I got was 399 hp at the rear wheel. Thus, I believe Kleemann is correct insaying that the MKB kit accounts for 40+ hp at the rear wheel. The MKB kit is definitely not the way to go if you are looking for the best bang for the buck, however, if you have the resources it really makes a difference. If my funds were more limited I would probably combine the Kleemann kit with a 3.07 differential.

Intereting. Great car. The CLK 320 comes with a stcok differential ratio of 3.07 while the 430 and E55 come stock with a differential ratio of 2.87. Although my Kleemanized CLK 320 does not have anywhere as much HP as your car, I have the same problem of hitting the rev limiter while still accelerating eventhough I have not made any changes in differential ratio. Because of this problem I seem to get the best acceleration by placing my car on winter rather than summer driving. Maybe it is in my mind. For this rerason I have abodoned my initial plans to adjust my stock differential from 3.07 to 3.11. I have driven in a Kleemanized CLk 55 with stock differential ratio of 2.87 and had furious acceleration limited only by tire spin but no problem with the rev limiter. I wonder what you guys(and gals of course!) think about just getting the Kleeman supercharger but not adjusting your differential as being better overal for acceleration and engine life? I do understand that in general going from 2.87 3.07 should improve acceleration, but does this really apply to a Kleemanized car? The Kleeman E55 with the world speed record actually had the differential adjuusted the ther way and still had a 0-60 og under 4.5 secs. Thanks.

Ted

I had the differential done when I had my MKB parts installed by Oberklasse. Even then I would hit the rev limiter in 1st. Once I got the Kleemann installed I was hitting the limiter in 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd, however, I was able to control that problem by getting used to the throttle response. The biggest problem was that MKB+ Kleemann SC+ 3.07 Differential + 265/30/19s led to major traction problems off the line, which negated some of the benefits of the differential. I think I will be going back to a stock differential and much wider tires in this round of upgrades.... for a non supercharged car, I think the differential upgrade is a great... if anyone is interested, I might have the 3.07 differential kit for sale for a great price.

You mentioned an affiliated shop in the bayarea. Who might that be? Do you know if they have done any installs up here? Any Clk55's?

No, the shop up here just serviced my car after installation. If you live in th bay area, you can get your car shipped to Evosport SoCal for $350... it is well worth it because they will give you a screamer to drive all the way back home..

Conversion Techniques in Oakland does Kleeman installs in the Bay Area. I had a ride in a Kleeman E55 they did last year. I think they were supposed to do a head to head w/ a bigblock Renntech for Car & Driver or something. Talk to the owner John.

Sounds like bs to me.

C & D just tested about 14 supercars including 2 Renntech Mercedes. Those were the only Mercedes in the competition. You will see it in the newstands next month.

I would check with Kleemann because I'm pretty sure they don't have an authorized dealer in Oakland... could be wrong.

Note the words *supposed* in my post. I didn't know if they ever got around to it....I guess they didn't. I haven't read C&D for a long time. You seem very informed with the car magazine so I guess they didn't.

Anyway, they did a very good job w/ the supercharger and I just wanted to pass along the info.

few qestions sleestack.

- You said you were doing a 1/4mile bench that day. What were your results?

- Is there anything you regret doing to your car. Or anything you wish you did better?

- Why isnt the gallery working? 'sob'

- Washing the car. Is it a pain? To get the nice buff back?

- Are you ever going to get some kinda mesh on it? (front, between fog lights)

- Sound system, inside extras. What are they?

- Ever dragged anyone? tell us your story? Or any other interesting stories you have to tell us about your adventures in this car.

I have to say after seeing your car its the nicest/fastest CLK i have ever seen except for the CLK-GTR

I cant wait to hear your 0-60 and 1/4 times.

The other day i decided to keep my CLK430 Pretty much stock and only mod my C230K alot. But after seeing your CLK i might change my mind.

Keep up the great work on an unbeliveable car.

Fastest CLK430, however, the Kleemann CLK55 is slightly faster as are some of the Renntech cars... well, actually any car is faster than my CLK right now

Well ok u still will beat pretty much any other CLK on the road, the chances of u seeing one of them is pretty slim. But it is possible i guess.
