grill and medallion swap

Need some advice. I have a 2000 clk320 brilliant silver.I have
a catalog from performance products and i am thinking about
changing the current grill and hood star to the grill with the
star in the center and the flush hood emblem. I do not intend to add the chrome headlight ring set. This will bring the look of the car more in line with the 2004 clk. I like the front of the new clk but not the rear.
Has anyone out there performed this swap and if so are you happy with the results?
Any imput would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have always been a big fan of the big star grill, I just don't like the flat hood ornament (just my opinion). Since you can't have both I have opted to leave it as is.

I'm actually the exact opposite. :d I like the flat hood emblem and a grill without the star. So, that works well for me since changing the emblem is a lot more inexpensive than swapping out the grill.

The hood star makes the clk stand out. There is a grill with star for sale on ebay for $100.00.

Go with the CL style big star grill instead of the other style.... CL style one looks way better.

Can't stand those 2 little vertical bars that are on the top and bottom of the star on the other grill.

I think you have replace the hood if you want to use the CL style grill.

Oh man.. that sucks.. didn't know that...
Is that true only for clk? I saw some cl style grills for other mercedes on ebay.

Anyhow, if it requires the new hood then it's too much of a pain.

The CL style grill will fit the new c class without changing the hood. Give Performace Products a call 1-800-243-1220.

grill swap & medallion

I did the swap today. It makes a major change in how the car looks! It came out looking even better than i thought it would.
It can be done in 30 minutes.
I purchased the grill and the medallion from performance products.
the grill was part # 88-613 and the Medallion was part# 88-624.
I had doubts at first but the change was dramatic.

CLK320
I also bought a flat hood emblem from Performance Products just a few days ago. But now I am not sure if I want to do the swap. Firstly I don't know what tool I need to remove the 3-point star. And I am not sure the replacement will look better or what. I will put on the H7s this weekend, though.

Lost emblem in car wash!!!

Im wondering if anyone whos swapt their standing star emblem with the flat one, and has lost it on the road? I did the swap with the replacement emblem and it flew off when i went through the car wash. I even went as far as to put crazy glue on the emblem but it still flew off, now im just left with the bare silver holder. Does anyone know if they are all the same or was mine just a chep imitation. Does anyone know if the ones the dealer supply the same.
