There are dozens of things that could cause a rough idle or hesitation. This is just one of the known problems with the ME control unit.

I can't really tell you to bring your car to the dealer and tell them to replace your ME control unit, because that might not even be the problem. Just tell them what you told me, your car experiences hesitation from time to time. The part number for the updated control unit is 113 153 04 79, and it is a valid fix for many cars.

MBTech, thank you very much for your wonderful information.

I have a question re: the CD player issues if you have a moment.

What is the fix for this as I have a 2002 CLK320 (cabrio) and I do experience that problem from time to time. Re-start the car and/or remove and replace the magazine and all seems OK, for a time.

Thanks again very much,

JR

i think ME stands for motronic 2.7 or something...its the version of the control unit and i'm guessing its the software version....

just go to mbusa.com and click on specifications of the clk and it will have the ME stuff there....

Non-CLK specific problems

Actually I had/have problem no 1 and 10 on my 00E55.

Problem 1: CD changer goes to track 1 when starting car with command was rectified with updated command software.

Problem 10: Certain instrument cluster display not centered actually appear after the command software update.

Non CLK specific problems

Dave, really appreciate the list. However, E55MKB brings up an interesting point. Are there any non CLK specific problems that are very widespread? I know I'm not the only person to have a smart key replaced, is that becoming a common issue? Are there any other general MB issues to be aware of? Thanks.

Took my car to the dealer and had them look at it today, they couldn't duplicate the problem (checked Air Flow Sensor & ME control unit), but I got a service B out of them and some mobil 1's put in 7000 miles ahead of my schedule maintenance .......

ME stands for Motor Electronics. It's the main engine computer. I'd rather not say which dealer I work at, just to protect my privacy and remain somewhat anonymous.

Most of the time, its one of four things.
1. Whoever installed the changer didn't version code the D2B ring to include the changer.
2. The shock absorber springs on the changer are set to vertical when they should be set to horizontal, or vice versa.
3. The changer is defective.
4. The CDs are damaged, or recorded (burned)

The list I posted was from a main list of bulletins that I received from work. Some of the bulletins are specific to the CLK, such as the window re-opens after closing. The others are applicable to other cars as well, such as the CD changer and rough idle/hesitating. I just posted all the ones that may apply.
