New mods pics....No 56K please !!!

Installed the flat hood emblem and took off the chrome headlight rings. I also installed new citylights and foglights to match the stock xenon...I think they match pretty good I must say . I got the idea of changing my city lights from you guys so I must post to inform others as well. They are epi lightbulbs and the fogs are Piaa extremes.

What prompted you to remove the chrome headlight rings? Any closer pics of the flat hood star?

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words but the bulbs I got the idea from somebody else in the forum..here's the link to the bulbs

http://www.ambulbs.com/products/description.php/II=29

the idea for taking off the headlight trim and switching to he flat emblem was to give the car a modern, sporty, RAW look to it. With all the dressings the car looks very luxurious so I tried to keep it to the basics

Nice. I'm in the process of accessorizing at the moment. This is probably the last week my car will be 'stock' for a while

Yeah the car looks MUCH sportier without the upright emblem and the chrome rings :0)

Thanks lou430 for the suggestion. From what I remember I think you were using Kleemann suspension. These photos should be with the original susp. right? Why you got rid of it since you are still driving the car? Will be buying the Kleemann soon so I am just curious.... I want minimum lowering (I actually think the car is pretty low already). Would a 4/4 pads and Kleemann springs do it? I am sorry about the wheels but I think the CLK430 17's look great and I wouldn't change them....

Hi Themis....yea I use to have the Kleemann suspension and miss it everyday . My main reason for going back to stock is the need to change my cars every year. I'm having a tough time finding my next car considering there is nothing within my immediate price range that can even compare. I test drove the BMW 6 series with the sport package and fell in love. Ive been trying to sell off as much as I can till the day I trade her in or sell her. It will be a sad day cause I really appreciate the car that much.....I don't see me keeping the clk once the warranty/ maintenace runs out and the resale value goes down to $0. Ive tried to trade her in and the most they give me is $35K and thats for a 2002 with 18K on the odometer

I agree with you that the stock AMG wheels look very good but if you're thinking of upgrading the suspension than I would highly consider going with atleast 18" with a wider/ lower profile tires....or the suspension upgrade would be a waste. The suspension is only as good as its weakest link and by using the stock Michelins and upgrading to a kickass suspension like the Kleemann it would defeat its purpose and the first sign would be the sidewall flex during your first fast turn :2cents:

a couple of more pics

I also moved my DVD/ Navi screen to the lower dIN and its much easier to change the climate control buttons...so far all the mods have improved the car in the way it looks and feels.

Nice. Where did you find the pedals? Are they aftermarket and do they require drilling?

Thanks!

Chappy those are original Mercedes Pedals that are on the SLK and believe the SL. They are a direct replacement ( no drilling) to the black rubber stocker the clk comes with. These look a world of difference to the rubber ones and I also last longer. The pedals from the dealer set me back a whopping $27 I paid more for the aftermarket AMG dead footrest alone
