MIne are broke and read a few posts here about it not being that hard..Got 2 quotes, one a private Mercedes shop $950!! 2nd a local garage and they said $850!!

My question, any specific brand that folks use? Have seen them form $35 to $75 each and even "kit" on amazon for $80 with both and a tranny mount

Any tips on how to get to the motor mounts? Up on ramps or just jacking one wheel up? Seen a few write up's and looks like the drivers side top bolt is the challenge

Follow the write up here : https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...or-mounts.html

I just did mine about a week or so ago. I bought the special motor mount tool (JTC 4693 on Amazon Prime if you're in a hurry), but had to use a pry bar against it to break the top bolts loose. I used W209 mounts since they're supposedly better and used blue loc-tite upon assembly Breaking the top bolts loose is the hardest part of the job. You'll have plenty of room to get the old mounts out out if you have the car on jack stands and jack up the engine. If I were to do this job again I wouldn't even waste time trying to break the top bolts loose with a ratchet/extension, I'd go straight for a pry bar wedged against the exhaust manifold and use special tool because its hard to keep the tool on there square while getting enough force on it to break them loose (a stubby 16mm may fit in there but nothing else). I think this could be accomplished in 2 hours or less if you break the top bolts loose right away.

Thanks!! I am going to order that tool, would putting the car up on ramps instead of jacks stands make it easier or worse in your opinion? I also have a floor jack

I changed my trans mount while I was at it. You may be able to do it with just ramps. I didn't want to take the chance of something not lining up while trying to lower the engine back into place....I have that kind of luck though! Changing them did make a world of difference.

I did get them replaced but paid a guy to do it..Had a death in the family and didn't have time to deal with it but saved $450 over what a local shop wanted by buying my mounts and paying a mobile mechanic to come fix it..Took him around 3 hours for both motor mounts and tranny mount..Like mentioned before it's a LOT quieter and smoother
