Ive been thinking of lowering my car and was wondering what suspension set up to go with being that i have 18's, no body kit other than the stock amg one, and want to preserve the ride quality as much as possible while enhancing the handling. Not interested in slamming the car...been there done that....but just a clean drop that wont rub the tires. So my question to you is....what suspension setup do u have (ie spring and how many inches it drops, shocks, and spring pad)...and what are the pros as well as cons. Thanks for the help on this issue.

Also ...whats the lowest drop that has the least effect on negative camber? I remember back in my honda days...that if i kept it above 1.5 inch drop...that the negative camber was not bad at all. Dont want to be changing the tires every year due to excessive tire wear from way out of spec camber..thanks

I have the Brabus Sport Suspension...

This setup is quite comfortable is used the way it comes, almost same as stock suspension... It yields about a 1.2" drop

Once I put in 19s & 1 dot spring pads, the ride got a little rougher... and there is a little bit of rubbing on hard turns, but thats about it. I'm gonna move up to slightly thicker pads to raise the car up a little & get a better ride

Pros: brand & comfort
Cons: Expensive

with my current setup, i'm at 2" drop, and my negative camber is horrible... over 2 degrees(?)... I'm gonna have to get myself a camber kit or raise the car quite a bit..

I think, somewhere around 1-1.2" is ok for camber... remember, camber for the w208 clk is not adjustable (well, its adjustable a little with the crash bolts from the dealer), but, it won't be enough to correct lowered suspensions

i went from stock spring pads #3 front/#4 rear down to #1 pads all around...

I forget, I think the Brabus springs & shocks drops it either 1.2" or 1.5"

I have BRABUS springs with stock shocks and mmgrad is correct about the ride height. The springs only dropped my car around 1.25 - 1.50" which is perfect. Looks slightly lower than a CLK55 AMG ride height.

The ride is smooth and comfortable, almost like stock. The handling has been improved, while keeping a lot of comfort.

The camber is great. Actually the front is still perfect, but there is a slight camber in the rear. Not extreme, though.

changing just the pads will only give you about 1/2 an inch... if you use the 1-dot pads

whether or not H&R manufactures it or not, i'm not sure... but it is built to brabus' specs, of course...

i know brabus kit uses bilstein shocks...

brabus is one of the more expensive brands... the price for the suspension is about $1200, not including installation
