Adding Android Auto, Bluetooth and Sirius XM to the Carr
I bought a screen for my 2003 W208 CLK 320 Cabriolet that displays Android Auto (or Apple Car Play), and whatever is on your phone plus it has a backup camera. So now I can enjoy voice command calling and Android Auto navigation, Sirius XM, play whatever music is on my phone, use the FM radio receiver on my phone; essentially all the functionalities built into our 2024 Mazda.
The system plays through the car radio via an AUX jack that I had installed previously. The backup camera provides a good quality image and is triggered when the reversing lights are activated. The hardest part was fishing the wire through the rubber conduit between the trunk lid and car body. I fabricated a bracket that slips into the cubby under the existing radio. The screen attaches to that bracket. Power comes from a USB socket I had previously installed in the cubby. It's nice to have a reversing camera in the car since the rearward vision is poor when the top is up.
Works great. I figured for that price, why not; cheaper than a tank of gas.

The only issue I've noted is the screen reflects. I'm going to buy a trim to fit glare elimination sheet of material that allows for the touch screen function to work while eliminating the reflections.
How did you attach it to the dash? Have you tried making any phone calls yet? I'm curious how the connection sounds on the other end. Presently, I'm using a bluetooth connected to the aux input in the glovebox and I get echo complaints to whomever I call.
I made a custom mount that slides into the small cubby below the stock radio. It slides in next to the aux jack I added some time ago. The phone sounds good, no complaints.
Did you also add that audio input? I have one in the glove box and I think I could probably wire it to come out from the ashtray (I have the double din Command radio).
I ordered the unit and unfortunately, it came with a broken screen. The left side of the unit wasn't working properly. I may try another brand from Amazon. I will update here.
