Picked up this 99 Magma Red CLK430
27k miles, 15 mos Starmark warranty left, for $22k. Detailed w/claybar, Einzett cutting polish (oxidation on front bumper and trunk) and 2 coats of Zaino Z-5, and it looks almost as good as new.
I used Trimbrite blackout tape on the chrome window trim, and am very pleased with the results. I hope it's durable, but if not, I can easily reapply for another $5. Also tinted windows at 35%. Debating a factory CD changer, or new head unit with MP3/DVD capability, and that's about it. I've gone through the mod bug with my previous Audis and BMW, and look forward to keeping my CLK relatively stock.

Sweet, I'd say go with the MP3/DVD head unit. DVD might be a little more than a factory changer, but you could surely pick up an MP3 deck for the price of the changer.

Here's another pic of the trim...
In the back corner of the C-pillar there is an overlap of two pieces of tape, which you can see in the picture. You really can't stretch the tape enough to make it around that bend. Other than that, you just need to take your time and make sure there are no bubbles. A credit card is good for pushing down the edges, and then use a razor to cut away the excess. Took about an hour, but I could probably do it faster now. Highly recommend this as an easy and cost-effective way method to blackout the window trim.

i think 99's dont have the mf steering wheels, so i would get a whole new system (screen/dvd/nav/cd). i wanted to keep the use of my mf steering wheel so i retrofitted a comand. i like the comand but its nothing compared to the setup i had in my old w202

I've heard they sell the blackout tape at Pep Boys...
which we don't have in HI so I ordered it from here:
Midway Auto Supply - Blackout Tape
I've had it on for about 3 weeks now and it has held up fine in the rain and sun. We'll see how it holds up over the long term.
