New Wheels 19" SSR GT3's
Currently, the upload function of the board is shut off. There are 2 ways around this. You can either upload it elsewhere, and provide the IMG link as you normally would. Or you can "ATTACH FILE" by choosing so at the bottom of the message (while posting).
Hope this helps,
Ben
I have 18" GT1s with S03s and had vibrations for the first couple thousand miles. Not so bad now though. I once read that you'll never find better balanced wheels than the MB factory wheels.
Where did you read that or get that info from? Thanks.
Even after 10,000 miles and bald tires, my OEM AMG wheels were as perfectly balanced as the day I got the car. Some days I'm tempted to put them back on just to have that oh-so-smooth ride again.

I started feeling it after the first 1000 miles. They probably did come perfectly balanced originally but showed up after break in. I picked up an E430 soon after and yes, they are still silky smooth after 2500 miles.
Hi Arnee...
Now I wish I thought harder before going for the SSR GT3s. I'm at a dead end with the vibration problem. Luke just sent me new centering rings, thinking maybe they sent the wrong ones; but when I got them and compared, they're exactly the same.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I wish I could remember better, but someone on one of these boards spoke of the "matched rims" and precision balancing, blah, blah, blah that is done in the factory is much better than any tire shop.

Interesting. Ronal makes some MB wheels - and they're an aftermarket company. It could be the wheel company or the balancing company.
I'm looking at the Zauber Gettins. However, being Japanese-made wheels also, I'm hoping that those wheels don't have problems similar to the SSR.
I removed one wheel (stock) off the car to hand fit one of the centering rings on the hub and the it fit perfectly. However, while I was on the phone with Luke and examining the fit, I found a little nib at the corner where the hub meets the ring, possibly a casting imperfection that really doesn't affect the stock wheel since the inner lip of that wheel has a bevel while the SSR doesn't. In effect, the SSR with the ring sits against the nib and may be skewed slightly on this corner. I filed it away and examining the SSR that was on that hub, I saw 2 indentations on the lip where it hit that nib from previous installations. It was gouged deep enough that I couldn't get the retaining ring off the groove. So now, I checked the remaining 3 SSRS to look for that indentation and didn't find any. Unfortunately, I ran out of time so I didn't switch wheels to check them all out. Quite frankly, I don't think 1 wheel like this would shake the car like that, would it? I'm praying that that was all it was! I'm out of town this weekend so I'm obviously putting the CLK up on stands as soon as I get back and check if all the hubs have this "nib".
My apologies to this thread, I don't mean to divert from the original positive note on the SSRs. Again, I love the wheels and was quite impressed with the build quality, etc. Believe me, if I ever solve this problem, I'll rave about about it in ALL the forums...
