Why would that suck? The people who buy the 500 get the V8. Just like the people who get the 55 which will have the sports package. There isn't much of a difference in price once you add the sports package- my friend got the 320 b/c insurance was lower and mileage is better.

when people say sports package

are they confusing it with the offered 'appearance package' because that has no mention of an AMG body in it, just a few nice touches here and there and its only offered on a 320....I dont recall a true AMG sports package on the new 320 coupe being offered just the W208 320 cab....

Nabzy, Sport package in the above sense I believe means the AMG wheels, side skirts, bumpers.

Thugedout, 320 w/ sport package and 500 being the same? Maybe the look, but the size of the engine, the tuning (bigger swaybar, better suspension), the higher resale value, etc.

Forget the 320, go with the 500.

I was referring to the AMG package. I am not sure whether my friend is getting confused w/ appearance package but I will def. check w/ him. He told the dealership that he wasn't interested in the car w/ out the "AMG package" (he called it sports package- as do I)- and the salesman took his deposit w/ out hesitation and requested his options.

Thumbs down Re: sport package

I don't mean to ruin anyone's day but if you're all talking/writing about the MY03 CLK320C, there is NO Code 772 Sports Package listed in Netstar as of today. So the answer is NO, you can not order it in the USA at this time. Netstar doesn't allow code additions that are not listed. Since the '03 CLK's are already on the water, it's not a likely option to be added, either.

The 772 Sport Package is available on the MY03 CLK320A Cabs, however, which will be the old body style. Apparently, there are plenty of such parts still available at the factory. Maybe that's why they've decided to continue to produce them.

As for adding it after the fact, yes you can but it is very expensive to duplicate the parts individually. ...RAB

i agree 100% by the time you add all the mambo-jambo to the clk320, it's almost 2 close to clk500 price. You might as well get the clk500 with the nice 8 cyl. I love the engine sound of the clk430, so I can only imagine. it will be hella t8t.

thats what I figured RAB

there is no true sports package for the new clk 320 coupes, its the appearance package that everyone is getting it confused with as a sports package:

FYI: on 2003 CLK 320 coupes - 951 appearance package - 17 inch 5 spoke alloy wheels, enlarged exhaust tip, sport shift knob, rubber studded aluminium pedals, charcoal leather upholstery, aluminium trim - note, this package is only available with charcoal leather.

and guess what guys, its delayed availability so check with your dealer.

hope this info helps,

nabzy

You are correct. My buddy cancelled his order and is considering the 500 now.

2004 C320
As I am looking at the MBusa site, it seems that the 320 and the 500 have identical body styles. I was under the impression that the AMG sport package was standard on the 500, but I don't see the difference. I have seen pictures of the 55AMG, and you can definitely tell the difference in the side skirts and front spoiler. Will the 500 have the same skirts and spoier as the 55AMG?

The 500 will look (cosmeticly) like the 55 minus the rims, spoiler, and dual exhaust. It will have the amg kit. Look at other threads that list the New CLK 209- they have the 500 w/ the AMG. Hope that helps.

Question Re: thats what I figured RAB

Nabzy,

I'm currently checking my sources because I don't see any official MBUSA reference to a Code 951 for any of the MY03 CLK-Class. Are you certain about it? ...RAB

Re: RAB

Nabzy,

You were right. I found it buried in the back pages of Netstar. It's a '03 CLK320C option package that is indeed listed as delayed availability. I'll keep watching to see if it will show up in the order mode and post accordingly. Thanks for the headsup. ...RAB
