Question Should i buy a CLK430 or Not???

I am very confused i am getting rid of my jaguar Xk8 becuase the re sale is terrible as is i will get nothing for it. But i wanted a new clk500 but i realized i could not get one for at least 6-8 weeks becuae i did not order one. and then my jaguar will loose more of its value the time it comes in. So to bad i did not oder the clk500 a while ago. but anyway i went to the dealer today and they had a nice 2002 Brilliant Silver CLK430 with K3 and K4 and i would get a pretty good deal on it well i guess its just an ok deal, but, i put a deposit on the car till friday because they said it will be sold over the weekend but i really need to know what i should do by then. My only concern is that it will look out dated and be nothing special when the CLK500's come out since i will be leasing it for 39 months and when the 500's come out i dont want people to think its an old car becuase when they see the 2003 CLK's they will give my new car no attention that it should deserve. But i need to know soon because i will only keep loosing more money on my car and i have to know by friday to get my deposit back or to buy the car.

Please help.

Hey -

I wouldn't be as concerned as you are about your car looking 'dated' or 'inferior' to the CLK500. While some people will notice, I wouldn't think more than 40% of the people on the road (depending on where you live) really know cars well enough to look down on you because you have last year's model. The CLK430 is still a sweet car, and I think its unfortunate you have to be getting such a great car and be somewhat insecure about it.

Well thats true i dont think people will really notice the difference because i dont think that many people besides people on these fourms know much about a car and when its changing. After looking at more pictures i think i might buy the CLK430 it still looks great to me, and the worst thing is that if i really dont feel like having it in a year i can always get out of the lease and take a loss again.

Thanks for your help. I will tell u if i buy it or not on friday.

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
The new 2003 model becomes a MB blend.

The 2002 CLK has its own unique, individual and original CLK robust appearance, which many CLK enthusiasts on this board prefer over the new MB model blend.

Damn. There is no doubt that a 2002 CLK430/55 is hot. You've got yourself a beautiful car which I'm sure you're very proud of. However, I'm still very happy in my decision to opt for the W209 CLK500. There are many pros and few cons with each car, but when I weighed everything out, the 209 came out on top. Whatever floats your boat.

1999 CLK 430
Cool 02 430 Rocks!

The lease on my 99 430 CLK expired in June, so I ordered and picked up an 02 White 430 CLK. I capped the emblem, got the white covers for the side reflectors and detailed it. It glows. I get compliments all the time from strangers. The car sits mean and aggressive and stands out.

I had the chance to order the 03 CLK 500. I opted out for something I know I love. I just got to see an 03 CLK 500 at the dealership last week. It was very nice. It looked like a cross between a baby CL, an Acrua CL with a new rear. It is very sharp. Do I love it more than my 02, no. I guess the choice is personal but if you are into cars you should really only care about how you feel towards your ride, not what others think. I also am concerned with price. I think I got a respectable deal.

I leased the car through Citbank from MB of Princeton, I put down, Acq. Fee, 1st payment and MV fees. I get 15K miles each year and I leased it for 39 months. I pay $697.00 a month inc taxes. My 99 cost me $630 a month. Is your deal much better?

Can the people getting the new CLK 500s tell us what the monthly leases are going for. My dealer said that car has a premium and will lease for around 800-900 with 0 down? Is that true?

Congrats on your new car. Where are the the side refectors located that you capped? The lease deal you got was good IMO as here in the Southeast the prices tend to be higher and MB Credit seemed to be the highest...last time I use them!

I am very happy with the car right now i may keep it till the CLK500 convertibles come out unless i fall in love with the regular CLK500. But right now i am very happy with the car. I love it.

By the way $697.00 is not even what they told me it would be if i leased it i think with $2,500 down the payments were a little over $800.00 a month. by the way do u have any packages like i got? such as K3 and K4. maybe thats making the difference.

But i decided to buy my car so i am paying that and my jaguar together so its over 1,500 a month. But they did help me out a lot with the payemts on the car even though they are combined they got it down alot.

Cool Side Reflectors

I ordered the OEM painted side reflector covers from evosport in Cali. They were $85 bucks. My dealer capped the emblem for me.

Glad to hear I got a decent deal. My 02 CLK 430 has the K3 package, heated seats and the 6 disc trunk changer. I love that car.

Good Luck to all the people that get the new CLK. As soon as you can post some pictures. I can't wait to see some new CLK's with rims and kits.
