Wow! A month ago I started talking to the dealer about a Euro delivery of a CLK550 in September. We've been waiting on the details of the '07s so we could place an order. I was very pleased to hear of the larger engine in the '07 and was expecting a bit of a price jump because of it. But, if these prices are correct, the price went down as the base for the '06 CLK500 was a little change over $63k. When I was chatting with my Sales rep today, she said she'd have prices on Monday, so I reckon I'll find out soon

Wow, I really like the numbers on the CLK550. Any idea what the weight of this car will be? Under 3600 lbs?

CLK 500 Convertible
Why is it that the german mercedes always have more horsepower then the american versions. For instance the new clk 500 (german version got 388 horsepower the american only 381. Does anybody know why? Also we have to use a higher Octan gas then you guys do. The american only requires 91 ours need at least 95!

Probably due to different methods of rating horsepower -- or it could just be paper advertising numbers.

I wish they sold 95 octane around here. All I can get is 93 but I use a NOS Octane Booster which is supposed to bring me to around 100 Octane. Good stuff.

2003 CLK55
Does the new CLK550 weigh more than the 2003-05 CLK55??
If its basically the same car, then why is the 0-60mph only 5.1. With all the extra horses shouldn't it be at least as fast as the CLK55?

The 55 models are history, worldwide.

The different hp numbers is just conversion from German DIN to SAE, not an actual difference in power.

2003 CLK55
My point is not about horsepower...its about published 0-60 times. How convienent its 5.1sec and not less. I would bet dollars to doughnuts it is faster than the CLK55 but they are not allowed to say it. Imagine how pissed the AMG guys would be. A non AMG car in the same class is beating them. It kinda sucks. Thats why I feel they should've waited for the new body style to introduce all these new motors. ....550.....63...etc. Then it would seem to make more sense.

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the old CLK55, MB's numbers are always conservative. As for waiting for the new body that is years away and the CLK500 was being overpowered.

I wouldn't get mad if the 550 was faster. I'll just take out a 2nd mortgage and buy a $16K Renntech S/C to bring her car up to 460 hp. Problem solved.....j/k (in case wifey's reading this thread). LOL!
