CLK 500 w/o AMG pkg?

I have a friend who has a facelifted CLK500 (that's what is badged as anyway), that has no AMG pkg. It's just the standard 320/350 bumper, and 320/350 split-spokes. I have a pretty good knowledge of mb's, and was just wondering, didn't mb have the AMG pkgs standard on all 500's after the first year or so, especially after the face lift. The friend is a girl with little to no car knowledge who said she got the car from a middleman who had the car delivered to her house. So I doubt she would rebadge it or something. Is there any way to tell the if it's a V6 model without lifting the hood? And if I do ask her to pop the hood, I know mb uses the plastic engine covers, but will it say "V6" or "V8" on it, or should I just count the "V" plastic formations on the cover?

sounds like a rebadged 500. all clk500 comes standard with amg bodykit and amg wheels. drive the car and u will know if its a 500 or not.
also the sound of the engine is different.

i never saw such a thing...ive seen 320s with amg kits but not the other way around.... check under the hood

if he doesnt let, the best bet is if its a 2005+ it will have shifters behind the steering wheel.... the 320 or 350s never came with this (but the r350 does lol)

the sound of the engine when you start the car is very different too. you can certainly differentiate between the 320 and 500 just by the sound of the engine.

Unless the person who did this paid alot of attention to detail, you could check the brakes. From what I recall, the 500s have "Mercedes-Benz" stamped on the front calipers, while the 320s (350s) should be blank. Don't know if they changed this with the facelift.

2006 Edition CLK 280 Coupe
I got a 280 and have the front brakes embossed with 'Mercedes Benz' (see my pics) and if the guy is not in the US, then his 500 might not have come with the AMG kit. It wasn't and isn't standard fit in Germany nor UK.
