Radar

I'm looking to buy a radar detector.I've been researching for a few days now and came up with the conclusion that Valentine1 is the best one out in the portable radar detector market.I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience and/or knowledge on radar detectors ,and their performance when used in mercedes vehicles with factory tinted windows. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kosta

Yes it is 360 degree capable. And all you see are 2 led's integrated into your cluster. The 2 radar receivers mount behind your front and rear bumper and you can get an optional laser defuser.

V1 "Winner"

Look into the data. The V1 has been for the last few years the hands down winner against the "So Called" Competition.

I have one in every car-They come with the hard wire kit and the local dealership of each did the respective cars with little to no expense.

Mine are mounted UP (no eye sore) around the rearview mirror.

Don't chance it. Go V1

I was thinking of mounting it in the same place as well. But my biggest concern was if it's ability to detect radar was going to be diminished because of the blueish tint in my windows.Plus, i'm not sure if my windshield is factory tinted or not.I don't want to spend $400 on a radar detector that is going to be almost useless because of tint.

I had 28% tint on the back windows of both my Corvette Coupes and it didn't seem to effect the V1's ability to pick up Radar from the rear... Anyone that bashes a V1 is simply closed minded... If it's not the best, it's in the top 2...
Once you get used to the Arrows giving you the threats location and the multiple bogey's counter, you'll appreciate it...

Goclkgo does have a point the v1 will beep alot in the city but on the highway nothing can beat it period. It has the most range and best pickup. There are 3 modes with the v1 i use the advance logic which mutes the x band until it gets strong enough to be a threat. x band is not used in Georgia and that is the band of all the grocery stor doors and such in my area so it really helps. There is also a option to completely turn off x band. The new excort 9500i uses gps to lock out false alarms such as grocery stores. The problem is what if a cop sits in the parking lot or by the building even though escort says it is smart enough to know the difference the verdict is still out With radar signals they can vary plus due to humidty and heat and also the 9500i still doesnt have the range of the v1 it is just a 8500 x50 with gps so same radar range. Heres a link to which radar bands are used it what state this should help some of the guys to know if they can mute x band or turn it off. http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=589

Did you take the time to RTFM...? There's a mode that filters out all the door
sensors, etc. & false alarms... Mine paid for itself driving home from Orlando in my '02 Vette when the V1 went off just as I approached the Florida / Mississippi state lines while holding off a Camaro... The V1 beaped once and indicated 1 on the bogey counter, followed by rapidly increasing beaps and then 6 on the bogey counter... I pulled into the right lane, dropped 40 mph and let the Camaro go by... As we came around the curve, there was a radar gun mounted to the left lane guardrail and a FLA State Troopers' cruiser sitting 10 feet away tethered to it... After we passed him, the Camaro jumped back on the throttle and 1/2 mile up the road, there were 5 MS State Troopers parked along the right lane shoulder... They pulled the Camaro over and let me go untouched...

tint does not reduce its effectiveness. I have had limo tints on all my cars(5%) and since ive owned my v1, almost 5 years now, ive never gone wrong. radar works unbelieveably.
