W209 interior.......indecisive

I am in the midst of changing many things in my CLK500. Firstly, my authentic K8 front bumper and my rear bumper is currently at the "paint shop". My rear has an extra exhaust port being added, and then to the exhaust shot to retro a quad exhaust application. My drilled Zimmerman discs get added and my calipers painted next month..........this should match up well with my Brabus wheels.......

Now the tricky part......I just acquired an Alpine HU. I will be installing it next month. I also received (from my Benz mad wife for Valentine's day) a previous version of the Brabus illuminated shift knob.

Over the past few months, I have committed to removing the burl wood dash accessories and having them custom painted to match my exterior paint colour (Brilliant metallic silver)......but am having second thoughts. The second thought (and at times the LOUDEST thought) is my wife stating she loves the wood finish. I am now wavering on my original plans and may just add a burl inset steering wheel......

I keep wavering day to day.........any opinions???

With all the sport features your adding I definetly think the wood has to go. IMO I think you should go with a silver/titanium carbon fiber overlay. That would look really nice. Just my 2 cents. Cant wait to see the aftermath of the mods.

BTW, what exhaust/muffler do you have right now? Was it you I contacted about the Remus?

Thanks Jon......I am leaning the same way...........

CF looks, "ok" to me......I am rather indifferent.......and somewhat fond of mono-tone creations. I have an extra center console set of burl and may have them treated to some CF to see what they look like.......

Yes, I have the W209 Remus on my vehicle now....was going to PM you when I take it off in a few weeks........r u still interested in it? It is an actual W209 REMUS and not the generic type......sounds excellent IMHO.

Yeah most definetly interested. PM me please also the price you were going to sell it for. It has the 3" piping to match the stock piping correct with the dual round tips slanted? Can you PM me a pic as well?

Sorry about that....Have you done a search for CF interior? There is a modded car with a total CF interior change. I personally think it looks nice esp since his car was silver. I would prefer a black (mainly because my ext/int is black). You should do a search and see how you like it. The guy is actually doing a group buy for I believe $500 (the 7 wood grain parts, center and doors, and window surrounds) if he gets enough people.

I actually will be keeping the bumpers......as I plan to sell off the mods (Brabus gear) in a couple years, bring my car near to stock, and sell to purchase an 07 CL550, which by then, should be a tad bit less than MSRP now........

$200USD plus packaging/shipping......if you PM me your ship to address...we could square that away (you could tell me how you would want shipped), and then I would send you many detailed pics when it is removed and cleaned up, and we could finalize then (as I stated, in a few weeks)........

pics of titanium gray CF I had done for my car for perspective in the link below - if you do go ahead and paint the wood be sure to post pics because it'd be the first I've seen on a CLK.

Thanks Frisco. I have looked at pics of your interior in the past, and it looks great!!

I certainly will post pics once I am finished. I have an extra ashtray cover that I have currently added 3 coats. Next is water sanding between 3 coats of laquer. I will then test it's durability (scratch test, pull tests, etc.)

I hope to have the tests completed over the weekend as I will be starting to tear out the door panels Saturday......

Black grain wood look

Hi there:

I have a W209 pre-facelift. Anyone know if it's possible to refinish the stock wood trim to look like the black wood grain/marble look? Does anyone even know what I'm talking about?

Cheers, H.

The wood is actually a thin lamenate (but it certainly is wood). You would have to take the laquer/clear coat off to access the actual wood itself, then restain it............alot of work and $ in my opinion.....in this instance, I would sooner look for an after market application.
