Post 2003 CLK 320 Cluster Removal

Hi,

I would like to take my cluster out to replace it with a new one, but at the same time i dont want to experiment and put scratches all over the place. Could someone please help. i did look at a thread which showed how to remove clusters for W208. (would it be the same for w209?).

Additonally, if i put the new cluster in, does it give errors or so. How could those errors be avoided? Please help.

Thanks in advance for the help.

u need a tool and make sure the key is not inserted into the keyhole. If u have keyless go, disconnect the battery to be safe,

Are you changing your instrument cluster with one that has the exact same mileage?
When I inquired about purchasing a CLK55 AMG instrument cluster for my CLK500, Steve (MBenzNL) said that I would need to replace it at the exact same mileage in order for it to function correctly.
Please post if you know otherwise. I would still like to swap mine out as well.

I myself dont know much about that. All i know is that i will be experimenting as soon as i find a new cluster for CLK. Would a CLK 500 cluster fit in the CLK 320? Any ideas ....

Thanks ...

One CAN Retrofit the Combi from a AMG or other 209 into your car..

Yes The Miles Should Match as if one installs a combi with LOWER mileage the REAL Mileage IS also stored in the EIS and ME control units

How are you supposed to find one with the exact same milage? My analog speedometer stopped working but the digital one in the lcd still works. Does anyone know of another way to fix that besides replacing the cluster?

CLK 320 Intstrument Cluster Removel (connection question)

So I successfully pulled out my instrument cluster so I can send it out to have the pixel problems fixed on temp and time displays. I am unclear how to disconnect the wiring so I can send it out. Any pointers? I see two seperate connections. Can I just gently pull them? Any pictures would be appreciated.
