I have a 2005 clk 500 with a srs light on for about a week then my driver side seat belt won't retract not sure what to do would like any suggestions before a go to a mb dealer you know how that goes..please help thanks

Hi All,

Yesterday my driver side front seat belt (2005 CLK500 covertible) would not retract and is now stuck out. The extender still goes in & out everytime the car starts, but the seat belt will not retract . Any clues? There is a recessed button behind where it looks like the mechanism is, but pushing it in with a pen did nothing... any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I have a 2005 CLK500 convertible & the driver seat belt won't retract, but I don't have an SRS light on.... I don't think it's a fuse....

This is the bulletin Benz put out on the W203. The 209 is the same other than the belt passing feature. Dirt/fluff is almost always the cause of trouble.

I have '04 CLK 500 Cabrio and driver's side belt is very slow to retract - sometimes doesn't retract at all. Mentioned it to the dealer at last service and, of course, they recommended replacing the whole seatbelt assy as the only fix - NOT going there. Will try cleaning belts as suggested in the attached notice and see how that goes.

Did you replace your drivers side seat belt/retractor? I have one if you need it.

sort of - got rid of the whole car - problem solved. ; - ) Thank you, however, for posting. The seat belt issue was the least of my problems.
