Need help with 08' CLK350 wheels

Need your help guys -

I have a new 2008 CLK350 with the AMG appearance package.

It comes stock with 17" wheels.

I see alot of you guys are running 18"+ wheels. However, I tried putting an 18" wheel on my car today (from an 05' SL) and it didn't fit.

Even with the OE 17" wheel, I don't have that much clearance between the tire and the bottom of the front suspension.

How do you get 18's on this car? Do you have to go ultra low profile? Or are you modifying the suspension?

Thanks!
Ryan

The offset is probably off which is why it doesn't fit even when it's 18". I have 18" on right now. The front is 18x8.5 ET 33 and rear is 18x10 ET 29. My car is completely stock on 235/40/18 and 265/35/18.

The stock AMG wheel package has 17" wheels with 225/45/ZR17 tires.

Here are pictures (sorry for the quality and the dirty car )

The red arrow shows where I'm having my issue.

Thanks,
Ryan

You've got to make sure that the offsets on the wheels are correct. Most Mercedes have different offsets which means that not all wheels are compatible with each other. Also, ensure that you have the right tire size. CLK's can accommodate up to 20" wheels (not recommended) but most ppl run 19's with 235/35 and 265/30 tires.

According to what you are trying out, SL wheels, they won't fit. The SL's share different offsets and if I am not mistaken longer lugs. Try finding a set off of a C, CLK or SLK which are all bolt on's to our car.

Good luck!

look around on the C class forum. there is a guy who has sl55 wheels on his C and another that has CLS500 wheels on his. You can easily find the member with the CLS wheels. He has a pic of his car in his signature. In regards to the lugs, I think aftermarket ones you need for your CLK.

Ryan009, I have stock non-AMG wheels /tires on my CLK350 which are the same size as your Stock AMG 17's. The clearance in your pix is normal but it should not rub.

Generally, when going to 18's the profile drops 5% per inch and the clearance stays the same.

That SL wheel has the wrong offset for your CLK ... so don't use it!

Good Luck!

CLK 550 wheels

Ryan,
I am going to sell my '08 CLK 550 wheels that I took off my car the same day I bought it new. These are the factory 18" wheels. They should fit your car fine.
