The recommended tires for the 18" wheels I just got is 225/40 for 8.5" and 255/35 for 9.5"

I don't think they will fit at the front. Far from in fact.

I just fit 225/40 on 8.5" with 35mm offset, and the front barley fit. Tire almost touching the strut coming down behind the wheel.

Loads of space in the rear. You can go 255, and probably bigger without any problems.

Cheers

i think it depends on your spacer and the rims.

Mark,
what offset (or spacer) do you have for the front wheels.

I have Brabus VI 18", 35mm offset and no spacer. Assuming you have the same offset, the 15mm spacer will push it out more than enough to compensate for the wider tire.

Do you have any problems with rubbing on the fender or that the wheel stick out to much. I was thinking to have 5mm spacers at the front, but was concerned out it doing just that.

Cheers, Johan

Mine is Brabus also FWIW. They're being installed right now and I'll take some pics after I pick it up.

no problems rubbing whatsoever.
i believe the spacers are bolted to the rim. if you look in between the rim and the rotors, the spacer is pretty noticeable.

looked at the front spacer. think i may have exaggerated 15mm might be closer to somewhere between 5 and 10mm.

Sorry Johan - I volunteer moderating a big coral reef discussion site and use the internet acronyms loosely assuming most people known them. FWIW = for what it's worth (Nice choice on wheels BTW (err... BTW = by the way))

I picked up my car yesterday and am definitely nowhere close to having a rubbing problem. I'll take some pics as soon as I can and post them.
