996 carerra or clk 55

i still cant decide which one to get. the porsche will eventually end up costing more than the clk 55. the clk 55 has almost everything standard while the porsche has a long list of options.
however, the carerra is rarer here and looks cooler with a 996 turbo wing. which one would u get?

A porsche will attract way more looks than a CLK. Go with the Porsche.

Used to be a CLK430
The 996 offers absolutely no comfort, I rode in one today, but is still a Porsche. I think the rarity factor is the same, I would personally go for the CLK, but it truly depends on what you plan on doing with your car. I have heard it said like this, "The CLK is like driving a couch...very fast and smooth, but oh so soft!" Good luck!!

Forget rarety, looks, or how many babes you will attract. Evaluate your driving priorities and then pick a car. Sounds like you are not the kind of guy who wants a "driver's" car, in which case the 996 will go to waste. Get the CLK.

WRONG man. For many people, buying a 911 is a matter of image more than anything else. There are plenty of other cars that are more comfortable, easier to drive and considerably less expensive, but none of them carry the aura of a 911.

yeah but you are the one that has to drive/ride in the thing every day. if its all about image and not the rush of driving the car hard, then you will hate the lack of comfort associated with the Porsche. IMHO, Porsche screams "i have money" while the Benz screams "i have money AND class", but thats just me

Hey, if that's your attitude, why not get a 1958 Citroën 2 CV? By driving a slow, strange car like that, you might even develop an identity of your own

Seriously, do not choose a car mainly beacuse it's "cool" to be seen in. That is a patently ridiculous selection criterion. There are enough poseurs around anyway. Get something practical and comfortable.

Then what can I say, you don't deserve a 911. Sounds like you don't even deserve a CLK55. Porsches and AMGs are for driving, not showing off. Try a CLK500 with 20" rims, but badge it a CLK55. I give you image and I give you bling bling factor.

2003 Toyota Prado
The CLK55 as opposed to the other models in the CLK lineup is a specialist car, just like the Subaru WRX sti, the Lancer EVO VII, or the M3 , all these cars on steroids look the same as their cheaper counterparts with minor exterior modifications, that seldom justifies their premium price , hence why sales arent as high as 'normal' cars, these cars are made for the select few that value perfomance over everything , looks..been there, floss...done that! people that want the driving experience and put that above everything else, unless your a die hard benz fan or a performance oriented driver, the CLK 55 might not be for you , and while it does offer image, its only appreciated by the few that recognise and know what amg is rather than look @ it as another modded up benz, On the other hand the 911 delivers resonable performance, i have driven my friends 911 on numerous occaisons and the ride isnt as bad as earlier posts seem to suggest, but it isnt the quietest ride either, nor is it the cheapest, ask an average porsche owner how much they pay when they take their car in for service and you will be shocked! and the options, well good luck dude, all i can say is Porsche is not THE most profitable car maker in the world for nothing ok? do you know that you have to pay for the little caps in the centre of the alloy wheel with the porsche crest on them, thats actually an option! dont forget to factor in residuals and resale if that sort of stuff matters to you, in short if your into performance and a subtle image go for the clk55, if you own the distribution rights to microsoft products on the west coast, you might consider the porsche , if you cant put up with the high runnig costs and need image, performance and dreadful residuals buy a Z06

That's the range to discuss whether SL55AMG or 996 TT.
CLK50K is about the price of CLK55AMG.

Yeah if you have just a CLK500 and add the SC. But if you part for part and match everything AMG on the 55 with KLEEMANN on the 500 i think you will be paying way more for the real CLK50K.

Right, an enthrusiast may consider the CLK55K, one of the best combination to fulfill the amazing kompressor power (560 ps) plus the efficient AMG speedshift.
I can hardly find competitors for a daily commuter like this.
