Running 5mm spacers on a 19x9.5 et40mm for the rears

Hi everyone,

I am planning to get a set of wheels and the size is 19x8 et30mm and 19x9.5 et40mm. I have been doing my searches and it seems that 19x8 with a 30mm offset works. However, the rears should be 35mm and what i will get has a 40mm offset. My question is, I should get a 5mm spacer to get to 35mm right? or should i go 7mm? secondly, do i need to change the bolts for the rears?

i am not sure how the spacers and offsets work but i think you will need shorter lugs, they are usually provided with the aftermarket wheels. Which wheels are you getting? Post pics...GL

I had a set of 9.5 rears with a 35mm offset and it worked great. I have a pair of 5mm spacers for sale for $40 shipped if you want them. With spacers you will normally need longer bolts. Ask the wheel dealer if he can send you longer bolts for the rears. A 2mm difference probably won't make much sense in the rear since the 500's brakes are relatively small. Let me know if you want the spacers. Thanks!

Not to hijack

So the correct offset for this car is 30mm in the front and 35mm in the back

The 30mm, F and 35mm, R will generally work but from the factory the offsets for the w208s are:

Front:
7.5, ET 35
7.5, ET 37

Rear:
8.5, ET 30
8.5, ET 34

so i test fitted the fronts for now. they are 19x8 et30. I just found out that they do not clear my brakes.

can someone confirm with me that i can use spacers for these. i have done my calculations and from what the common agreement, 19x8.5 et32mm fits well. to make the outside edge at par with the 8.5 wheel, i can add a 5mm hubcentric spacer to make it et25 which makes the outside edge stick out 18mm like an 8.5 width wheel. true?

i have not tried the rear ones yet. just trying to make sure these wheels fit. they are axis matrix which i got for cheap brand new at axis here in socal.

Apart from the offset, break clearance also depends on wheel spoke design. The best way is to put on the wheel and measure how many mm you'll need. Yes you can add 5 mm spacers and you'll stick out 1 mm compared to 8.5 ET32. The only issue is that some people have complaints about vibrations from using 5mm spacers. These spacers usually don't have lip for the wheel to sit on. Good luck

3mm spacers instead of 5mm?

those would be hub-centric spacers.....if you got the money for it, get them. Dont resort to cheap universal spacers, those will give you more than a handful of problems.

looks like i have to run 5mm hubcentric spacers on all corners. i hope they fit as those h&r ones dont come cheap. the 3mm ones makes sense but i doubt that it will give me more than 2mm clearance from the brake. hopefully ill get everything done by next weekend so i can have the springs installed.

My recommendation if you're going with wide tires in the back you should do the springs first.

Width of the tires may all say the same, but in reality some tires are wider than others.

So when you lower your car, you might find that there may be some rubbing along the edge of the tires.
