Amp/Speaker Wiring Diagram??

Hi everyone. I am working on replacing the Bose stereo in a '04 CLK 500. Due to the fiber connection between the head unit and the amp, I am ditching both.. I have a new amp, but I don't want the hassle of running new speaker cables throughout the car. My preference is to tap into the stock amp/speaker wiring harness (located in the trunk) to power the speakers.

I have done some pretty extensive searching for a wiring diagram but have not found one relevant to the model I am working on. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Ryan

I'm working on the same upgrade! I am also trying to tap into the same harness you mentioned so I don't have to rewire the speaker cables. I plan on starting the install on April 22 and will share my lessons learned on the project. My plan was to map the wire colors on the speakers themselves (door speakers for example) and match those colors with the ones on the Bose harness. If you plan on doing the install right away, please share what you learned.

2MCHCAR, I have seen you on my of the threads I was looking for answers on! Anyway, my buddy (his car) found a wiring diagram from a MY00 CLK and the colors on the harness pretty much matched up. Last night he connected the amp to the harness and it worked first shot.

Any way you can ask your friend what wire colors went to what speaker (at least the ones on the door)? It would really help with the install.

I've been doing some research for my install next week and this is what I found:

My car is an 2004 CLK500 with the Bose sound system (no navigation, 6-disc in glove box, 6 door speakers, one center channel, one sub in trunk), these are the wires from the amp to the speakers:

Driver side door:
Front speaker and Tweeter
+ Brown/Green
- Green
Back speaker
+ Brown/Pink
-Pink
Passenger Side door:
Front speaker and Tweeter
+ Brown/Orange
- Orange
Back speaker
+ Brown/White
- White
Note - The front speaker and tweeter share a same connection from the amp all the way to the door sill (there's a harness that splits this wire into two at the sill), the back speaker is not affected.

You can tap the Grey/Blue wire in the cigarette lighter for the switched 12v.

I'm not sure it's worth the trouble, you could find a 2ohm speaker that will fit, but it might not sound good (problems with the system microphone, speakers not matched). You could just unplug the speaker and wait until you do the entire install. I'm in the middle of my complete sound system overhaul, so I'll update everyone when I'm done. Good luck.....

NO LONGER ACTIVE
http://benzbits.com/w209/SoundAmplifierWIring.pdf

The colors are abbreviated:

WH = White
BN = Brown
BK = Black
GN = Green
PK = Pink
OG = Orange
GY = Gray
VT = Violet
BU = Blue
YE = Yellow

When you see two colors together, like "BUBK", than means the wire is BU (blue) with a BK (black) tracer stripe.

I did the same thing you did and the way I figured out what speaks goes where is I installed the amp and hooked up everything . I made a wiring bundle going from the amp to the factory amp speaker plug . FYI go online and purchase the metal spikes that plug into the harness so you don't have to cut into the wiring . Once I got my wires there . I tested it one by one . There are only 4 speakers so it should take you a minute to figure out .You will loose the center channel and subwoofer so you have to add a new subwoofer . Do not try to use the factory Subs there like 0.5 ohms and there isnt an amp that can run them . If you have a coupe you can replace the factory sub with a shallow mount sub there cheap and get a cheap amp to run them . If you have a convertible you will need some big power because getting the base from the trunk to the cabin is a nightmare .
