Has anyone with H/K Logic 7 soundsystem ever swapped out the stock sub? Any idea what I can fit in there? I'm hoping my JL 10w6v2 could fit, if not maybe the 13tw5 (?... that slim profile sub??). Eventually, I want my trunk space back.

I think you can. dont quote me on that. the member v12 did some amazing stuff. didnt sacrifice much trunk room. i think he put w 10s back there. so you might be able too. it'll be hanging off from where the stock sub is. i also saw a guy in an e class put a tw5 in where the passenger foot rest is. lol. but i think putting a sub where the stock sup is requires cutting of metal. -_- look up v12s thread somewhere. i think theres a link to his thread on page one or two. i'll see if i can look up the e class one

Here's the thread detailing most of what i did.

The subs fitted in the rear shelf are 2 x 12" elemental designs ehqs.

As standard my car had a single 10" paper rubbish sub, i did initially intend to fit a single 12", which would have gone nicely, but got such a bargain on two i went mental and cut the shelf.

You can see from the last few pics that i still have 90% of my boot space.

Whatever sub you go for, make sure it works in free-air applications (also known as infinite baffle). If a sub isn't listed as being suitable for this, it will sounds stupid!

im due for new pics soon. itching to get that v1 and do a v1 hardwire. lol worried that ima blow the cigarette fuse tho. haha i think its 15 amps running to my cig lighter, the hu, and possibly my v1? is that bad

edit: i forgot to ask. ever since i installed my sub, im getting a rattle from the rear but where the sun screen is. and i noticed that if i hold that area down the rattle is gone. only really rattles at a certain low frequency tho. but did you guys have that too? any solutions? i might try taking out the original rear sub and seeing if that helps.

keep you guys posted

Brian

the V1 won't use more than 1a, the HU no more than 10a even at full tilt, so as long as you don't use more than 5a from your cig you'll be fine.

At moderate volumes your head unit will likely draw 3-4amps.

Get that original sub out of there and onto the junk pile! Let your sub breathe!

Don't put a larger fuse in, just run it as it is. If the fuse blows, you know you need to find another feed or run a dedicated one.

I had pictures up before, but I can't find the thread anymore. Anyway, there really isn't much to look at. I have a 4-channel amp mounted to the back seats, and a sealed box in the back with the 500/1 amp mounted on it.

There's a guy from Australia, Ph1l. He has an awesome set up in his trunk:

He showed also showed me pics of this thin cover he can put over this to protect it when loading up the trunk. I'd like something like this... but am also cautious that I'll never know when I'm going to need that spare.

I just purchased a Pioneer Z110BT to replace my stock headunit and I don't think I will change the speaker yet. The car comes with premium harman kardon sound system that has center so I think they use 5-channel amp on my 07 CLK350.

You said that there's modules to make the steering wheel works. Mind to share what kind of module is that? I talked to my installer and he said that PAC won't work on W209 as the european database on W209 does not suitable with PAC and no module available yet as of now.

Your installer is talking crap. Read through this thread and the links provided for the different options available.

Does anyone with W209 have PAC for the steering wheel control already? The pioneer module that you meant is not available in NA so I don't know where to find it.

On W209? I suppose all W209 from 03-09 will be the same, right?

^ mind to tell me who's the W209 owner that uses PAC for steering wheel control? I read all the post here and it's only bheng who is interested in installing PAC but no updates yet. Also, is there any guidelines to remove the dash?

I used the PAC steering wheel modules and have my steering wheel controls. There are two PAC components that you need to buy. They are listed on the PAC website. I know one was the SWI-CAN2 and I forget the other off the top of my head.

@CSXIAN Where you located?

I live in Vancouver, BC but if anyone in Seattle, WA can help me out, I don't mind driving down to the states.

Do you mean PAC SWI-jack? Did you install it yourself? How easy was it? It's kinda confusing for the parts that I need. The W208 owner uses SWI-JACK, SWI-CAN2 and OEM2 given that he uses Alpine. I'm buying Pioneer HU and it says that I need SWI-X and SWI-CAN2. Do I need OEM2?

i didnt use pac. i read that with the pac i needed to solder wires or tap to wires or something of the sort. i found a plug and play module that i found in the c class forum.
i believe it was called the car.pi.131. just google it or ebay it. the seller on ebay was very fast with his response. see if there is one for your car and year. for me, it didnt give me ALL the control modules. like i dont have voice recognition nor do i have the ability to pick up calls. but pac has the solution to that. i dont mind not having those functions.

I didn't install myself. Yeah, I had to use SWI-CAN2 and SWI-JACK for my Kenwood install. Funny enough, I accidentally bought a SWI-X and have it laying around. If you want it, PM me and I'll sell really cheap. $20 + shipping (it's tiny and shouldn't cost that much).

^ How much did you pay for installation? So, no need for OEM2?
Does the phone bluetooth answering work from your steering wheel?

if you use pac products, you can prgram it to whatever you want. i think theres a guide online? and if you keep the speakers you will need oem2.

did you buy the unit already?

I'm not exactly sure what modules you need. Not all W209's are created the same in this respect. They vary year to year on what you'll need and the website doesn't work all the time for the application guide... For example, when I put in my year and model... they don't have a steering wheel interface combination listed.

The total for installation was around $400... I forget the exact breakdown, but a lot of it was for buying all the wiring since they had to bypass the fiber optics.

The owner of W208 uses SWI-Jack, SWI-CAN2, and OEM2 to make it work. Since yours is W209 and you made it work with just SWI-JACK and SWI-CAN2, I think your modules is more relevant for my case.
$400 for all the PAC modules plus installation labour or just the labour?

the reason why pat didnt use an oem2, and pat correct me if im wrong, is cuz he upgraded his speakers. the other member you are talking about i think is marcusF that used an oem2 on his car. its cuz he he upgraded an HU and didnt upgrade the speakers.

with that, if you are not trying to upgrade your speakers you wil l need something like the oem2
