Buying 04' CLK320 Good Idea?

I was looking at buying an 04' clk320 with 72k\m on it. Is it a good buy? I will add that this has been my dream car (within reach) that i've always wanted and now i have the oppurtunity to buy one. I would love your guys input on what to watch out for. I'm in Canada i live outside of Toronto, (Barrie to be exact) is this car good for winter driving, if i buy winter tires of course.

Thanks in advance

How much is it? Also it would be fine in winter driving. It should be similar to the 500 and have the ability to switch the driving mode. It would be a switch next to the shifter that says c/s. S is standard driving and the C would be for winter driving. I believe that is how I read it in my manual. If you can I would recommend the 500 if your price range is possible, only because I like the V8, but I have driven the 320 and it was a fun car.

It's $20k cad. To be honest I really don't need the v8 as I'm really looking for something that has great gas mileage. I use to drive an expedition and that thing sucked gas like no tomorrow. That's really good to hear that I'll be ok for winter driving. Winters can get crazy up here. Thanks for the quick reply also.

Would you say that's a good price. When I do the comparables it's a pretty price IMO. I've just always wanted this car, did/do you experiance any problems with it? I've read that some people have a lot of electrical problems.

Thanks once again.

I live in Toronto and I drive a 2004 CLK320.

Like all RWD cars, this car is not so good in the winter. If you buy this car, please make sure you have a set of winter tires.

Yes winter tires are good to have. But the change with the C/S function will help with keeping RPM low from the start. I have been driving rear wheel in Alaska for 4 years and never had issues so Im sure you will be ok in Canada.

I'm in US/Chicago and about a month back there were a couple CLK320's one 03 and one 04 with 30k miles for $16-17k at my local Lexus dealer.

DON'T JUMP TOO QUICK, LOOK AROUND A BIT...

Hi,
The price seems a little high. I just bought a Black on Black 2005 CLK500 w/navagation HK sterio/wood steering wheel with 32k miles for 20,600+ tax still under factory warrenty through July. I also would research the gas mileage because Im getting 27.5 MPG on the highway and 19.5 MPG city. Please know....driving the clk500 compared to clk320 is a BIG BIG differance. Solid and power when you need it.

Hope this helps you.
Good luck!
Paul

Paul, his price is in Canadian dollars and at the current US exchange rate would be
17262.21323

So it is actually a fair price for the 320 and that year.

17,200 for a 2004 intry level clk is still too much!

I researched the mpg on a clk 320, which was his main issue (good gas mileage) and it's the same mpg as a clk500. Now, I know when Mercedes Benz clk500 was brand new the vehicle was 10-15K higher retail price then the clk320. But now, Its about the same resale value. I DONT KNOW ABOUT YOU ...but when it's all said and done, and you're alone in your garage at night with your clk, I think you'll would wish I had a clk500.

Please, it's just my opinion.
Sincerely-
Paul

^ thanks for the replies guys, i bought a 04' clk320, hopefully i can get it this week. I'm going away next week, so i want them to hurry. I got the call last night saying that everything was good with the financing part, now it's just a waiting game. I'm so excited. time to retire my ml320 for the summer. Thanks for the help guys, how hard is it to put in a stereo system? Like an in-dash dvd system? Or i might just keep it stock, and use my tape-3.5mm jack adapter, for my iPod. I don't really use cd's anymore, how hard would it be install the aux jack? Sorry the all the questions.

It should already have an aux jack in the glove box. Or at least my 500 does. Congrats on the purchase.

What ever makes you happy. I went for the CLK500 because I have ML500 and owned a 350 before and I found the MPG not drasticly diffrent I was assuming that same would for my clk500. When I drive like a granny I get 19 city and 25 highway. When I drive like I typicly do well I rather no mention what I get.. Plus the CLK500 just looks so much better in AMG garb than that the plain ol CLK. Comfort and Sport work like this in sport you start in 1st gear and shift points are harsher in Comfort you start in second for better mpg's and a more relaxed shift pattern hence "Comfort"
