Tint on the W209
Hey guys, so I know that the moleskin tint protector was a big deal on the W203 because of the seal scratching up the tint, but is this a problem on the W209 as well? I just got an 07 CLK550 and I'm going to tint it sometime this week, but I just wanted to know if I should do the moleskin beforehand?

tip for 209 cars, DO NOT SPRAY the rear inside window, there is a sensor chip there just above the rear window in the back. Me like a idiot did not know, and ended up spending 1,000 for parts.

Bump from the dead...
Hey Kev, how did the Moleskin work for you?
I just ordered the C kit and am having the windows done after I install it.
inquiring minds want to know...

I need to get the tint redone on my C, quite a few scratches on the drivers window. I doubt the moleskin is going to help here though because of all the fine sand.

It's not a "chip"; it's the antenna amp. It's attached to the glass, right under the stubby antenna, above the headliner. Be very careful with it - heat, cold and vibration can weaken its contacts with the glass. Other than simple age and environmental exposure, tinting is the main cause for failure.
