Brake rotor question
I'm looking at and will probably pull the trigger and buy Akebono brake pads for front and rear pad replacements on my 05 CLK500 this coming spring.
Looking for some recommendations on replacement rotors. I see on formymercedes.com I can get cryogenic (frozen) rotors but was wondering what if any experience our forum members may have had with these or if there are other recommendations for replacement rotors. Was also wondering if there is a big difference between drilled rotors and cryogenic rotors.
I don't track my car but am a spirited driver especially on highways .
Thanks,

I bought R1 drilled and slotted premium rotors, $188.10 per pair, which look great and work terrific with my Akebono pads.
I had posted on "another forum", and just after I bought them, I got a PM from R1 telling me about a member discount, FYI. I've since ordered standard rotors for my C-Class and got the discount, BTW.

You can find some brembo rotors over here... http://www.lpiracing.com/racing-part...ors-c10769.htm
No painted hub and I really wouldn't know what the quality difference would be performance wise. Just thought I'd share.
Like Klinh, I just like the styles of these rotors. My current wheels don't floss much rotor right now, but it may be something I'd do down the road.
Does anyone know how difficult it is to install rotors on your own? Do you need any special tools?

Based on my experience I would go with the R1 rotors even if they are a little more money. First the Brembo rotors are only cross-drilled and second my hub rusted up in a month or two. It makes the rotor look like crap! I already ordered the R1's and I can't wait to install them!

Well for that kind of money you can go to formymercedes.com and click on their link for brake upgrades and at bottom of page click on frozen rotors. This will take you to frozenrotors.com. When you call to order frozen rotors mention formymercedes and you'll get a 5% discount. Frozen rotors are $160 each for fronts and $120 each for rears before discount.
Still waiting to hear from any of our forum members about their experiences with frozen rotors. Supposedly they should last up to 3x longer than standard (non frozen) rotors but want to hear from someone using them before I buy em.
Thanks
