Interior lighting....
Hey guys.
I have some LED bulbs that I want to install.
I finally worked out how to remove the lense cover of the light up near the rear-view mirror. There's just one bulb up there.
But.
I couldn't work out how to remove the cover that sits over the rear bulb above the rear seats.
I thought this one would be easy, as it's the same design as the 208.
Does anyone have a tip on how to remove this?
I believe one end of the cover is hinged. So when you remove the free end, it just swings down so you can change the bulb.
This one's stuck fast though.
I can managed to release the un-hinged end by about 3mm, but then it won't free up any more than that. It seems to still be clutching to it's friction clip
Thought I'd ask before I approach it alittle more heavy-handedly!
Cheers guys.

Hi,
what kind of led-bulb did you use on dome-light?
As the problem with the smd-leds seems to be that the light doesnt completely shut off, but leaves a dim light that stays on all the time when driving.
At least that was the problem i had when tried to replace a filament bulb with led.

I don't know exactly what type of LED's I have, but they are 12 volts bulbs.
There is only one bulb up in the dome.
I have used a festoon style bulb with 6 LED's in it. Arranged like a dice.
The one above the rear seats is the same.
For the under-door lights, I used a "wedge base" bulb with a cluster of 4 LED's.
When I lock the car, the LED's stay on (emitting a soft glow) for about 2 mins. Then they go out.
But I have not driven the car yet, so I cannot confirm whether they stay on when I'm driving.
I'll let you know as soon as I drive it.
I'll take some pics of the bulbs ( I have some spare) later on and post them up.
Just gonna wax the car.

Yup, Seem to be doing the same thing as mine did when shutting the doors, so im afraid they will stay on while driving too. Thats rather annoying and the light prevents the rearview mirror sensor working too.
I tested the ones with resistors too if that would help, but no luck.
I hope someone finds the answer because those led festoons would look so cool

I'm back.
Car is nice and waxey!
Here's a couple of pics of my LED's.
The long one with 6 LED's is the Festoon style bulb.
The other is the "wedge base" LED with a cluster of 4 LED's.
I'm soooooo hoping they go out when I'm driving!

I rather have the oem bulbs back on if they stay on. Maybe you can try to use a LED that consists of less bulbs.

I recently installed LEDs for my interior as well. The LEDs in the door goes off, but blinks. Then I changed them out with a 1 bulb LED instead of 3 bulb LED, the blinking stopped. You really don't want the LEDs to stay on, even though LEDs requires very little voltage, it still drains on your battery.

Yeah, that's true.
I'll be putting my original bulbs back in if the LED's give me any problems.

Right.
I managed to get the car out today.
Woohoo!![Wootrock](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wootrock.gif)
Car rocks.
Anyway, it appears that my newly installed LED's prefer to stay on when the car is in operation. Not on fully, but emitting the soft glow.
However, they are happy to turn off completely when I lock the car.
This I am glad about.
Pretty weird that they don't go out completely when they should.![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
I may leave them in as I really like the blue lighting.
I'll see how it goes.
I may find myself getting pulled over with the soft glow during driving!
LOL

No, they're not that bright at all.
But you'll probably be able to see them if you were in the car behind though.
During the day, they're hardly noticable.
I'll have to see how obvious they are when I next take it out at night.

Yeah, it is pretty strange behaviour. ![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
But I'm with Andy for now.
I'm happy that they go off when I lock the car.
As long as they don't generate too much heat while in their "dim" state, then I may well leave them as they are.

Did you guys replace the map lights? I was trying to get in there yesterday and couldn't figure it out. I was shoving a little screwdriver all over the place after I got the dome cover off.
EDIT: I came across this again... I'm going to prod some more, but have you guys actually replaced the bulbs and got them to work?

Hey bud.
You may want to leave those map lights.
I thought about changing them too, but I don't really use them ever.
Also, if you're not sure how to get it open, it usually ends up with prodding away with a screwdriver etc.
Decide how much you want them changed first.
That's the principle I try to use.
The last thing you want is loads of scratches and digs everywhere.
Just a thought, bud.
As for the other bulbs, yeah they work, but seem to like staying on during journeys.
