Thumbs up **56K WARNING** - Pics of my 320

Here's my CLK.

A special thanks to the forum's very own Harris at Harton Motorwerks for providing me with the Brabus springs and the Carlsson 1/16s, which I could not find anywhere else. He takes customer service to another level and he went above and beyond the call of duty in making sure I had all the knowledge to make an informed purchase and to ensure that my buying process was a pleasant one.

Thanks to Tire Rack for the tires...complete with an always prompt and hassle free shipment.

And finally thanks to Harry at Bergen Imports in Cliffside Park, NJ for installing the wheels and springs. They do great work over there.

Here are the mods:

Brabus Lowering Springs
Carlsson 1/16s (18x8.5 f / 18x10 r)
Yokohama AVS ES100 (235/40/18 f / 265/35/18 r)

It looks small though.....those 18" wheels......
You should put at least 19".......I've seen one with 20"....it really looked very nice. The drop was also just right.....

Also, the Carlsson wheel 1/16 should be lightweight, right? However, I don't think it would fit on the car's profile. I would put put something like Brabus VI. That wheels are look nice on the car.

It's just my personal preference.....please don't take it personal =)
Your car is OK.......but not extreme enough to catch somebody's eyes =)......

Initial impressions...

I've only put about 40 miles on my car since the installation...but here are my initial impressions.

The Yokohama's ride great. They are just as quiet as the stock tires, and the ride seems smoother to me when on decent roads. With the Brabus springs, the ride is very comfortable...I would say comparable to the stock suspension...just a tad bit stiffer. There is a 1.5 finger gap in the rear, and a 2 finger gap in the front.

I may upgrade the stereo system next...but I think I am in good shape for now.

Again, thanks to Harris, Tire Rack, and Bergen Imports for making the ride tight tight!!

No offense taken...its all about personal preference. I live 1 mile outside of NYC, so to me, 19s were not an option, as I have seend the effects of New York City streets on many a wheel...and a date with the wheel repair shot is not on my agenda

And I didn't want it to be too extreme. I still have to maintain the corporate image when I drive into the office.

On the last comment, I would beg to differ...as I drive through Manahattan today, I noticed quite a few heads turning

Perfect !!!!!

I wouldn't want anything different.

I also have a black 320, and searched like crazy for the 1/16 Carlsson, and couldn't find them anywhere. It's my favorite rim. I had to go with my second choice back in Dec, Brabus VI.

Noticed you have a little wider tires than recommended for 18". No problems with rubbing ? Do you know if they rolled the fenders.

Do you run with the standard shocks and the Brabus springs. I like what you say about the similar softness as standard springs. I haven't lowered mine yet.

Enjoy your great looking car.

Cheers

Thanks MBcoupe forever.

I am running stock shocks with the Brabus springs. I didn't have to roll the fenders. And no problems with rubbing.

The front is totally clear. In the back, it is close. There is a carpet covered shim of some sort back there which sits pretty close to the wheel. The installer said it may rub a little if I have 2 heavy people sitting in the back and go over a large bump. It is close on the inside of the tire well, not the outside, so if it is an issue, he said a spacer would solve the problem. I did drive home with my old wheels and tires in the back seat and trunk, and I had no problems then, even when I went over large bumps or dips in the road.

I will get a final assesment when I take it back in next week to be aligned after my springs settle, but I should be in good shape.

Not really sure...I took it to the car wash up the street from where I live, and I have no idea what they use. But people with cars a lot nicer than mine take their cars there and they come out looking pretty good, so I simply follow suite.

The car is obsidian black, and the metallic paints seems to shine pretty well in the sun.

I love it! Love it!
I personally think that the Carlsson 1/16's look the best on W209... (well other than the AMG multispokes)...
Your car looks great!

Very nice indeed - I didn't really care for them when I saw the first round of Carlsson pictures several months back but your car looks really nice. I'm glad I don't have to wash them though!!!
