Brake pads for 2006 CLK 500??

My fiance's front brake pads on her clk 500 are on their last leg. I need to look for a good front pair of pads. Where and what should I purchase? I am looking for low dust but good braking this time around. The OEM pads release a ton of dust.

Thanks.

I felt the same way when I got my 500. I couldn't believe the wheels got dirty from driving just 20 miles. I installed Akebono ceramic pads and have been happy as a clam ever since.

+1 I am using the Porterfield R4-S now and they don't give off any dust whatsoever. Switching to Akebono's next week to try them out

I have my set of akebonos but haven't installed since I'm waiting on my rotors. I'm sick of all the dust my wheels get... looking forward to throwing them on.

+1. What kind of rotors are you getting Pat? I was going to throw them on next week but now I'm thinking I might wait a couple months till I put on my wheels.

Cool..I'm in the same dilemma with the rotors. Don't know if to put them on next week or wait for the wheels. I'm switching from the cross drilled brembo's to the cross drilled/slotted R1's.

P.S. I am switching to the R1's because the brembo's rusted up pretty bad on the hub. It look awful. The R1's come powder coated to prevent that.

What didn't you like about the drilled brembo's? Or were you switching for the style?

Guys, do the Akebono front pads come with the wear sensors? If not, do I need them (the light has not come on yet).

Is there a how to guide to installing the front pads?

They don't come with the sensors, but you should be able to reuse yours. There are some instructions floating around.

u dont need DIY....its very easy, take off your wheels locate 2 pins on your calipers (one on top and one at the bottom) and knock it out then remove the old pads (push the the pistons back) then install the new pads same for the rears.
