Car breaks down, just stops working need help

Hey guys,

So strange thing happens. I'm driving and all of a sudden my gas pedals just falls through and fuel line gets cut off. I pull over, try to start the car again and nothing happens.

What could be the situation? Could it be the fuel pump or pipe??

Another thing worth noting from what i thought is when i push the gas pedal all the way down, before hitting the end it responded with a click every time. I would really like to know what happened.

sounds like it could be almost anything. instead of guessing, the best bet might be to bring it to a mercedes shop

I had a VW that did that, and it was a snapped throttle cable. Dunno if MB is built the same way....the VW was doing some weird things before that: revving up by itself and stuff.

I just got the word back. So it was the fuel pump that went, i'm not sure if the shop is lying or not because its the same guys that tried to screw me before.

They told me $510 with labor to replace it. The part number is 2094701394 for future reference in case this happens to anybody, its a $300 part with shipping ($262 without). The labor they are charging me $50 over but its not a big deal. I found another shop that can do it for $150 but it would require to tow it.

The strange thing is that the car started twice inside the shop, is it possible to start the car with the fuel pump being broken??

Get the fault code read with the OBDII code scanner.
Can you crank the engine? There's a fuel line pressure valve located in the engine compartment, connect a fuel pressure gauge to this valve and crank the engine. If the fuel pump is dead, the pressure should be very low. If the fuel pump is ok, it's possible that the CPS maybe at fault.

I had the same problem turned out to be the Crank Position Sensor the car would die on me while i would drive and it would turn back on no matter how hard i tried and if it eventually turned on after an hour or so it died again in 2 mins.. its a relatively cheap fix as opposed to the fuel pump bought it from Autohausaz .com for 60-80$ i believe and had it installed for 50 bucks,,, check the fault codes like some of the members mentioned it can very well be that.
