Bike Rack
Hi guys
I'm looking for a bike rack options for our cars. I know there are rails one can buy for about $250-300 and then build out the cross rails and bike mount. Did anyone do this? How about attaching a rack to the trunk? I have one I used with my SUV truck but with a quick fit test it does not look like it will work.
Anyone using any racks? Any recommendations on what works for you?
Thanks

I'm remodelling my kitchen & I agree, if it were't for that darned, the Black would be the perfect vehicle to take to Home Depot & load up a half dozen of their warped 2X4's.

Gioevo11, I'm looking at buying the same factory roof racks for my 2005 CLK 350 but no one can tell me if they fit Thule accessories, the type which fasten onto the cross bars by sliding through the throat of the cross bar. I know you said you fitted the Thule double decker surf carrier but when i take a closer look at it, it seems to have a clamp type connection which wraps around the cross bar instead, but i could be wrong. I'm looking at buying the Thule ProRide 591 Silver bike carrier which slots through the cross bar and I was just wondering if you know if this will fit the merc roof racks?

Hi,
I also had a Thule bike rack fitted on the MB racks at the same time. It was a little much, but it works. There is an adapter that lets you slide the bike rack on the mb rack.

The adapter is needed and is only like $10...I got it at Rack Solid in Los Angeles.

M6 x 1.25 Stainless steel, it will take 12-13 full 360 degree rotations for bol to bottom out in threaded inserts of mounting points.

It does work for an insistent wife. Easy to put & off. big soft cushy arms to protect the paint. The other downside is it sticks off the back and with my steep driveway, she can clip the bike tires backing down or pulling in. And she does.
