i usually do it myself. and will give my car a first wax with a pc when the weather gets better on the west coast.

but my girlfriends housemate asked me to clean the car. i suggest clean, clay, wax. and i gave the initial price of 125. she looked at me like i was

so i lowered it to 100 just cuz shes a friend not a close one.

but i mean detail takes time and product. lol i know a buddy charges 350 for a full detail. and he does clean, clay, polish (if necessary), wax and all interior.

i figured 150 is more than reasonable since i wont do the interior.

so whos the crazy one? lol

You're likely dealing with someone whose idea of a car detail is running their vehicle to the local car wash/wax and getting a $25 special. Given the time it takes to do a full detail, I can't imagine it would be worth your time to do for much less than you quoted her. :2cents:

Edit: Beyond the cost of materials...you have to ask yourself what your time is worth. Personally, I'd rather sit around on my *** watching paint dry than spend my time out in the sun cleaning another persons car for under $10/hr.

Yea, you're definitely talking to someone with little to no knowledge of cars. The prices you quoted are way more than fair. By the sounds of it you could probably do a half assed job and get away with it...

Yup. She wants a car wash...not a detail. Just tell her what she'd be getting for the $$ (ex. $50 for a basic wash and vacuum clean). She's probably expecting to take up under an hour of your time...not 3+ hrs.

I drive the racism out of BadDebt. ;)
The guy i used to go to charges about 550...for a complete detail (interior and exterior, motor and wheel wells) and a 1 stage paint polish with either a wax or sealant as a top coat.

8hrs of work...

100 bux will get you a wash, clay...and quick wax.... this should take you no more and 2hrs.

$115 for both!
lucky. hope he does a great job. I usually do it myself, but last time I took it to a friend, they still charged me $150, normal rates were around $300.

I paid $250 for my land rover last week.

If someone takes a buffer to your car for $100 bucks you better drive away. $100 should buy you a clean, clay, and wax, and interior vacuum.

so it turns out, yes she was looking for a wash. i explained the whole clay and wax keep it looking shiny-ish. but i thikn ima just lower it to 50ish and do a quick wash, clay and quick wax. it should take no longer than 2 hours as supafly said

and turns out you guys were right. she was used to getting the $25 special. and then i i found out her friend gets a 100% hand car wash for 10-15 bucks. i was like...wtf do they use as product -_-

but as for myself. wash, clay, seal, and nuba wax. i think that should be a good days worth of work. just gotta find some better weather in the west coast before i do it.

btw dont you hate it when you wash your car and it rains or drizzles the next day -____-

This happens to me almost every single time...lol...Better weather in the west coast? Isn't that an oxymoron or something?
