CLK shaking when stopping at lights and idling
Hi Members,
I been noticing that my CLK 500 is shaking at idle. Its seems to happen when i stop at the lights. It feels like it going to stall sometimes. Rarely the shaking can be violent with fluctions in the revs and the car feels like it want to shoot forward if you let go of the brake.
I have no warning lights on the dash and the car has mileage of 40800. I have read on other threads that it may be due to MAF sensor or spark plugs & wires but none of them seem to be definite on one solution. Some also say it could be engine mount issues but then i thought i would feel the shaking everytime i stopped but this issue it intermittent.
I recently had to recondition the whole tiptronic gearbox and replace radiator due to the common issue of 'antifreeze contamination on the clutch plates'. I hope this isn't too much of a massive issue as everything else seems to be fine on the car at the moment (fingers crossed!)
Please can anyone give me most likely solutions from their personal experiences or point me toward a thread that i may have missed. Would massively appreciate any help on this issue.
Many thanks in advance and look forward to your responses![](http://www.benzworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Hi Members,
After doing a bit more researching online, i think the most likely issue might be to do with the MAF sensor.
I've decided to try and clean the MAF as i have read this has worked for many other W209 CLK owners. I have been trying to find a step by step DIY guide to cleaning the MAF sensor but have only come accross a step by step for a C430 W208 shape.
Will this be exactly the same procedure for my CLK500 W209. Sorry if this is a silly question but i'm not too familair with the setups on MB cars. This is my first MB.
Look forward to any help.

Thanks for your Rapid reply Dynomite05. I've actually got the same step by step from another reply of yours in the forum. Just wanted verification that it would be the same step by step for a W209 CLK500.
By the way, was just checking out the pictures & Mods of your car and it does look amazing. You must of spent a fortune doing it up. With all the mods you've done, would love to see interior and engine bay shots.

Thanks for the kind words, this car has been quite a project. You should be fine with those instructions. I haven't put too much work into the interior and engine bay yet. The interior is in the works and the dressing up the bay will follow.

Hi Members,
I took out the MAF sensor to clean it about 2 weeks ago and i can confirm the shaking has gone. Additionally, i think the gear changes are smoother too.
Can't believe something so simple would be making the whole car shake at idle.
Only have 1 more problem which has been happening for a couple of months. Everytime i start the car, for a about 30 seconds i hear a clicking sound coming from behind the dash. I think this is a common issue to do with the stepper motor but will have to look into it more. I've read you have to take the whole front dash just to get to it which is the labour intensive and costly.
I will look into it and probably make another thread but any ideas would be helpful.
Have a good weekend and a massive thanks to Dynomite05 for providing DIY instruction and help.
Have a good weekend peepz :-)

Even after replacing the MAF sensor im getting an odd shake at idle. Any ideas? o2 Sensor possibly ? one of my last codes did read there was a short in the o2 sensor. I'm guessing this is it. Has anyone had similar exper. ??
Also my Revs jump up to 750 or so when the a/c turns on. is this normal that high ?

If you didn't mention the idle speed jump with the A/C, I'd suggest replacing the rear engine (a.k..a transmission) mount. Most engine vibration "feelings" are solved with that. Since you say the idle speed jumps up, you may have another problem. Did you use a genuine MBZ (or Bosch) MAF sensor?
