Took off door panels...Now I have a few problems.
. Stupid, I know! I finished taking off the trim and I put both panels back. Both driver/passenger switches work fine, seats move and windows go up and down. Here are the problems I'm having...1. The drivers door won't lock when activating the alarm. (Haven't tried to manually lock it with the blade)
2. The windows are not creating the "seal" when doors close
3. The alarm only beeps twice instead of the normal three times when activated
4. After activating alarm, the "tow-away" button starts to flash repeatedly.
Maybe someone could help me out before I bring it in to get checked out . Thanks

PS - it's a whole lot better to use a resistor between the positive and negative cables to create a drain - touching them together is of course causing a short that *could* cause other problems if you have luck like me. A resistor can be something as simple as a 12v lightbulb...

So just disconnect both cables and touch them both to a 12v bulb? Can I also disconnect the cables and repeatedly press the brake?

On a serious note, I'm just trying to toss in some advice to make sure no other problems, as remote as they may be, arise. I have 10 more years of "oh f*ck! Why didn't I think of doing that before I f*ucked it up!?!?!?" than you do

I read about your situation and it didnt happen to me when i took the doors off. maybe you should try taking it off and reconnecting it again. and make sure that metal rod is hooked in correctly.
best of luck

That's cuz you probably didn't put the key in the ignition like me..lol..The hook is in correctly cuz I am able to open the door with no problems.

I now think that the car 'thinks' that the drivers door is still open. I'm not familiar with the detection device on the CLK door, plus I'm in the office and my car is at home, is there a 'door pin' that is compressed when the door closes? I'm willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that something either isn't hooked up or the door pin (other other relative device whatever it may be called) is not recieving a 'closed door signal'.
An open door covers pretty much all the symptoms you've described.
I'm 99% sure that the door pin either isn't being compressed or the signal isn't being relayed. The pin is on the inner door frame, towards the rear of the car at roughly the same heights as the u shaped latch. It makes contact with a plastic surround on the door panel itself. Do you have the plastic piece in place?
It was in my back seat so I didn't see it when putting the doors back together.
I wouldn't have thought a little piece of plastic could cause so much trouble. Thanks for your help guys!
