If you left the K&N's in, your maf is probably shot.

K&N filters don't have the nick-name 'Gravel-Guards' without reason. They flow a heck of a lot of air but do a piis poor job at filtering. After using a K&N cone filter for 6 months back in Canada, the inside of the air intake tube was black as was the intake manifold and MAF. I have never used them daily after that, only for the track or race nights.

+1 with Andy, take the MAF out and clean it with no-residue electrical contact cleaner and go back to paper filters.

All you have to do is take the MAF unit out, clean it up spotless and pop it back in - then check it in 6 months, it and the casing will be covered in crud. Do the same with a paper filter and the difference is night and day. If you're going to use them and want to protect the engine, keep them clean and use minimal amounts of oil. For the extra 1 or 2 peak HP vs. by-pass contaminents I've decided not to use them daily.

If you're happy with them (as I was years ago), good on you, just keep them clean.

That puts a different spin on things, I thought it was your daily! Do you use the K&N oil? You can get it in a spray, very easy to control vs. the 'drip'.

I had to replace my maf a while back because of the K&Ns. I switched to green filters and haven't had a problem.

How is the Green Air Filter as compared to stock filter?

My car hesitated at red lights before and it was fixed by replacing the MAF. I did not know that the MAF should be cleaned every few months. Is the MAF easily accessed? Any instructions here? What do you use to clean them?

None taken. There are always two sides to a coin, but this is the first I hear of this. I'm going to double check now...lol....Have you heard anything about the BMC's

I have not had any issues with my K&N filters, but when I clean them I do not put much of any oil spray on the side that goes to the MAF. On the intake side I put enough oil though. So the rear is not very oiled but then I make sure to let it dry for atleast an hour before I reinstall them. So after 15k miles I still have no issues.

On the other hand I did have my CPS replaced this weekend since it made my car stall for no reason.... Thank you CPO warranty.

I have heard both things about K&N filters since they are heavily oiled from the factory. I was told by the shop foreman at the dealer that you should clean the filter and not apply as much oil even with a brand new filter to keep from having this problem. so I followed his advice and my car is running like a champ!

There was an initial problem with the rubber compound used for the edge seal/gasket with the Green filters but it's been rectified. I read about it quite a while back on a few different forums.

at least you know what im talking about ehehe....but anyway, like Wes said there are always two side to a coin so K&N or green or BMC OP just have to pick one.
