Engine hesitation...need some advice

I'm having a problem with a hestitation at around 10mph when accelerating. Seems like it's got a dead spot and then catches with a lurch. The engine accelerates fine from there. Is this a computer issue or a dirty MAF? Any help would be appreciated.

Wow you too! I know exactly what your speaking of...I have a 04 CLK 55 AMG and it also has that sluggish, hesitation feel. I called the dealer and was told that it's probably my O2 sensor. I'm not sure how much mileage you have on your car but I have 65k on mine. If it's the O2 sensor then that's an easy fix and not a lot of $$$ However, if it's the catalyc converter then be prepaird to shell out some dough...from what I've read on another thread, it cost 3k to get a new one...now that may be a bit much but I'm sure it would be somewhere in that area of cost. I will be taking my car to the dealer tomorrow....I'll let you know how it drives with a new O2 sensor

I have 55K on mine. Hope that it's the O2 sensor not the cat! Keep me updated.

Already have...if I'm correct, there are 4 O2 sensors. Will you replace them all?

The 4 sensors cost around $700 from a discount wholesaler...don't know what they will cost from the dealership. I wouldn't replace them unless they were throwing bad codes first.

Hook up an OBDII scanner on it and see if it throws out some codes. That's a good start.

Also how long have you had you MAF on there? If you haven't replaced it then i think it's time. MAF run somewhere around $200-250.

Don't even bother checking the dealer for the price on those sensors. It's always expensive. Try www.thepartsbin.com

Hope that helps. Good luck and keep us posted on what the problem is.

Yesterday I took a look at the MAF sensor...I think it's the sensor. Isn't it located in the back of the engine block on the opposite side of the transmission dipstick? If so, Then I have the right part. Now, my question to you all is; have any of you actually had the opportunity to change the MAF? Please share with everyone how easy/difficult it was to REMOVE and REPLACE it. It appears to be a very snug fit back there. I ordered my MAF only and it's being deliverd overnight for $250 that's including taxes and the overnight fee of $25 bucks! This was the cheapest I found it for and it is a Bosch part from www.autopartsfair.com here's the actual order info:

Parts Ordered
2001 - 2006
Mercedes Benz CLK55 AMG Bosch Air Mass Meter Air Mass Meter Price: $208.95 Qty: 1 Part #: W0133-1601501

Sub Total: $208.95
Shipping: $24.98
Handling: $0.00
Tax: $16.96
Core: $0.00
Total: $250.89

I've also done more research on the internet regarding the problems that we're having on google and there are so many other CLK AMG owners with the same issues we're having.....this seems to be a common issue for Mercedes-Benz and I for one am pretty embarrassed to share with my buddies which are non MB owners all the issues I'm having with my car! I understand all car manufacture's have their share of issue but this is crazy. Anyway I'll stop whining for now and wait for the MAF sensor.

It is good shiat hahahahaha...and yes I already cleaned my, I cant believe it it run fine now..the hesitation is gone. I mean I can hear the engine run b4 I clean but after I did that cant hear anything now eventhough I already turn off the music. Im telling you man work like charm. Only cost $6.99 to buy the CRC MASS AIR FLOW CLEANER from Autozone. It took me around 45 mins. to remove and put it back. If you do that make sure you let it dry completely b4 u put it back in. When u do it make sure u unlatch the braket b4 you push the clip. Alrite guys I never post any picture so its time to do it. Let me know what u think?

If the

maf cleaning does not work and you have the typical maf codes of p0173 and p0170 a new maf is only $173 delivered
from http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...0Mass%20Sensor
If the issue is a bad cat don't forget that they are warrantied for 8years/80000 miles.

I'm going to stick with the same style stock but with the chrome finish instead. 19's is what I want but I keep going back and fourth between the
18's and 19's. I will be upgrading the rotors to frozen rotors...cross drilled and slotted, xenon lights and the new Kenwood DNX 8120 Navigation system I might tint the window a bit darker later on...maybe but other than that I'm good until next year when I will seriously consider adding a Supercharger. The roof spoiler, in my opinion is kind of corny No mods done so far other than the K&N air filters....those filters are a nice piece of art.
