Seriously, the guy who designed the tool tray for CLKs needs to be shot in the *****... then resuscitated and shot in the ***** again, rescuscitated, shot... x1000.
I've had the car for 2 years now. I had to change tires 4 times. First time I had a friend (a car guy) do this. Took him about 20 minutes to figure out how to put the jack properly back in. I had two mechanics working on a car... both couldn't figure out how to put jack back... both times I said "it's ok, I'll put it back later"... and did, wasted about 10-15 minutes each time and a billion nerve cells. One of the mechanics even broke some piece of trim in there, which I would suppose should have made it even easier to place the damn jack in, but no... Tonight I changed tires again... and this time I was unable to put it at all. I was tired, cold, pissed, I just tossed everything back into the trunk and called it a day. Before starting it all I stared at it for a good minute, trying to remember how it was placed, I made sure when I closed my eyes I could picture the jack lying in there... didn't work. I tried to put it back according to my mental picture... won't fit. Plastic cover will be an inch high. I did 3000 minor adjustments of every single movable parts, but nothing worked.
Does anyone have a picture of the damn thing how it supposed to be placed?
Oh and maybe, a picture of MB tool tray designer? I wanna track him down and cut off his ***** and put them into his eyesockets... and them bit him with a club into a pulp.
Thanks

Never had a problem with it myself, and I've used it alot the past month. The C and CLK have the same layout for it.

Funny first post. This should be in the jokes section. It's amazing how something so simple gets people (me included) so annoyed to the point that I would rather toss the jack in the trash and feel happy about it.

wow how did i miss this thread lol.
When i installed my HID fogs i had to use the jack and i spend 5 min trying to put it back with no luck.
I left it there rattling and shaking until my next oil change. The guy called me over and showed me how to do it. I felt pretty stupid haha
Do i remember how to do it now? Of course not

Comn, these are the same guys that can't make a decent cupholder for the life of them. They'll make great engines, pioneer safety standards and engineer new technology, but they can't make a god damn durable cupholder. How'd you think the jacks would work out? lmao

I tried again today, but it's 10F here, I only lasted for a minute or two. I did try to put it just like it shows in the manual. I remember which side supposed to be where, and the handle needs to go into the hole in the middle. But the problem is, it just doesn't fit. At all. I'm gonna bring the car to the dealership specifically so that they put it back in.

Don't know if you guys have seen this thread. Seems like that jack is a big POS! I have heard a few stories about it giving out. So much so, it has earned the nickname "Widowmaker".

yes total piece of crap. I used it a few times and always have issues getting it back in
Sometimes it goes in quick and sometimes I just can't do it
Not to mention how it works...
